I've had my blue Honda HR-V for a week and I love it! It was affordable, gets good mileage about the same as you stated. Sure, it's a bit underpowered but for the price? It's just right.

I test drove a 2018 and it was a nice small SUV. I liked it much better than the Toyota version and Honda offers a sunroof and AWD, which Toyota doesn't.

The HR-V EX seems to fit our budget and our needs. We don't need a hot rod- we have other hotrods in the stable for days when we want that sort of driving experience. We want utility and the ability to transport 4 adults in comfort. The beauty of the Ocean Pearl color and the choice of a gray rather than black interior are plus factors for us. Honda has a lease program going on the HR-V through the end of 2/2017 that is very favorable. They are practically giving them away IMO. After we have it for a few months I'll try to post some impressions if anyone is interested.

I just really wish it had a decent power train. The acceleration of this vehicle is kind of weak.

I was trying to decide between the HRV awd and the Fiat 500X. I bought the HRV for a few reasons. The HRV cost less, it has more cargo space, and also has better resale value. I've heard comments about the HRV having road noise and not enough power. I have found that mine has a very quiet cabin on the freeway, also it has plenty of power with the cvt. Really there is nothing to complain about with these vehicles. I have a 2018 HRV, awd, with cvt of course. Cargo space is amazing. My basic model has cloth seats, so I bought seat covers for the front seats. Now just waiting to try it out in snow.

Another great review Dave. The rear headrests/rear visibility raises an interesting issue. I've been wondering for a while why rear car windows have been shrinking, thus affecting visibility. This seems to be a trend (problem?) across all car companies these days. Is it purely aesthetics or something to do with structural rigidity?

FYI for anyone interested in the HR-V. It feels underpowered on the first month or two. After it has been broken in, it takes off a lot smoother. I don't mind driving it any more. My wife owns the HRV and I have a civic with he Turbo. She's definitely happy with it.

Good video. Thanks for posting. I test drove the 2016 version and I agree with what most wrote; needs more HP. I think if it had 170-175hp is would be a true contender. Yes, I know it would rise the price point, but the competition; Fiat 500X Trekking Plus for example, cost a bit more too. So if Honda is reading I would recommend the following for 2018: more HP, power front seats, redesign the dash (a/c vents), backseat centre arm rest. Overall I like the looks.

We just got ours a 2016 model here in the Virginia area for the wife with the AWD so she can get through snow. With everything added it was $35 grand. (Except for that dreaded yearly VA vehicle tax yes yearly tax .) Does your state do this? Puts a damper on going out. I will try to go off road when i get the chance. So far we give it *** . Wish the ride was a little smoother.

Very good review--my big question is the CVT- how do they hold up ? BTW- I do not find the HR-V to be "ugly". I think that overall Honda did a nice job with the design. Then again whether a vehicle looks good is subjective.

The MPG seems very low for such an under powered vehicle. My Mini turbo gets 36.9 mpg in mixed spirited driving!

Luckily off road demo does not mean Demolition! As for the car it is very well done for the segment. My only real complaint was the screen and center stack not being aligned. It just looks like the stuck an Ipad in the dash after the car was already heading down the assembly line.

Not much bigger than the Honda Fit for cargo space (same magic seats) and the Fit beats it in MPG. Unless you need the additional ground clearance, the Fit is a nicer choice with more power per pound as well. We have over 20K on our 2015 Fit and love it.

After our company bought 7 of these back in 2017 (now 2024) I have several things i dislike about these cars. First is the air conditioning. We are in the deep south and even with tinted windows these cars just can't keep up. Second, the paint had a defect and every last one of our cars had to be repainted. Honda did issue a recall but we were only able to get 6 of the 7 repainted during that time frame. For the age of the car the infotainment systems is also really lacking but I guess with a budget vehicle that is to be expected.

I just wish the color was actually that bright blue in person. It is actually darker and not that vibrant. Too bad it doesn't come in Aegean like the civic.

That is a nice car. I'm on the fence though, between getting this Honda HR-V EX or the Toyota C-RV. I drive about 70 miles one way to work. Mostly through the mountains here in the Los Angeles suburbs. I was told an All Wheel Drive, or AWD, is safer to drive on mountain roads. Not sure if that's really true or not. Currently, I am driving a 2014 Chevy Sonic Base model and it drives well, but I'm starting to have issues with it and think its best if I trade it in for a Honda HR-V? May I please get your honest opinion on this vehicle? Better for mountain driving with an AWD? I've never driven an AWD vehicle before so I can't compare it to FWD. Thank you very much. @Everyman Driver, please review the 2018 HR-V because it's now available to build on their Honda's website and it looks exactly the same except for new wheels. We were hoping for some more changes because outside of USA the HR-V is known as the Vezel and includes LED front headlights, panoramic roof with LED taillights, looks better!!! =(

in Asia you get tube led rear lights and drl in the front with led headlamps. makes for a sexier look... but you lose the lane watch. we get the rear arm rest too. check out paultan.org for the modulo version - jump past the mugen offer to avoid throw up

Come on do some real work on your reviews, do not depend on the cars on board fuel calculation use a different way to get the true gas mileage do some work , cause most manufacturers on board displays are off a lots in there favor
