I can't believe that the lore of Silksong was that it's all a dream conjured up by a post sealed siblings ending Hornet's mind after she's put into a coma by the seal of binding.

One thing i would say is that Hornet's ability to control silk is probably in large part due to being the Pale Kings child. Team Cherry said that her silk is unique, in that her soul and silk are intertwined. Since Soul is ones life force, id imagine that would make natural control of it a lot easier.

The weavers had the power to use silk to create spells and we know that Hornet was raised by the weavers. Her soul being intertwined with her silk likely because of the Pale King but her ability to control it is probably something she learned from the Weavers.

I think silk is a form of refined soul. They share the same color, they're obtained the same way, they have the same sort of religious significance (the soul sanctum was basically a corrupt church). I think the weavers are born with an inherent ability to turn soul into silk while the other bugs in pharloom can manipulate it but can't produce it themselves. I also wonder if silk moths will be part of this, seeing how important moths were in hallownest. Or if we will get any void lore (we probably will). I'm just excited, team cherry is cooking a full course meal

While that is a very entertaining idea, and silk does certainly seem like a material useful for creating spells and seals, im nit sure if them being the same thing would make sense entirely. Team Cherry does make a distinction, when describing Hornet's Silk as being special, "...Hornet's silk and soul are inseparably bound, her life force fused with her thread.." so they must at least have a degree of separation greater than a different form of the same thing. That still might be the case for Hornet, but perhaps not necessarily for other creatures that produce silk. Cheers.

I think it's possible that silk itself is more of a regular substance / material, perhaps just one that only certain beings can create - like The Weavers, which is why they're being captured. Hornet's silk specifically could be made of soul, because she's the child of a higher being. That could be why she's seemingly more sought after than The Weavers (the cultists in the opening scene go to the length to place a seal of binding on her cage). We do see enemies in Silksong utilize silk in their attacks. These differ to Hornet's fighting style, as the strands of silk seem to have an origin (being connected to a hand or weapon, etc.), rather than appearing out of nowhere like they do with Hornet. Additionally, when Hornet strikes a silk spool, it flies off the spool and absorbs into her. It seems that the silk that Hornet harnesses has some magical quality. To me, it seems that Hornet's silk specifically has soul imbued within it. This is how she's able to use it in similar ways to how soul users used soul in Hollow Knight.

@@HarryButHarry Team Cherry have also officially stated that hornets silk is special, that her silk and soul are "inseparably bound", so thats kind of a fact.

@@arch_imedes7108 It might be that Hornet is able to imbue her silk with soul then, and that ability is unique to her due to her being half wyrm. Probably why she was kidnapped, if Pharloom runs on silk and song then they would use her magic silk to be more powerful or something
