I bought my C63 AMG for cheap because the seller thought the engine was bad. Today we find out by taking it apart and by performing an electronic compression test. I'll also give you a pre-purchase inspection tip that could save you thousands of dollars and a lot of headaches by avoiding a basket case car. Kind of like my C63.

Was sure you were gong to have Camshaft lobe wear and we would have a Tasos style video from you. Those driver side lobes are close though....I wonder if the heat in the UAE where Tasos Moschatos lives combined with the thinner oil plays a major part there too?

Mikey Smith the 320 V6 is not a enjoyable engine... it’s a lazy engine...it doesn’t like to take revs (my father had a C320). The 350 V6 is much more dynamic. It has good torque and loves to go up in the revs. I had my SLK350 for a couple of days at AMG and with light mods, and not that expensive, the car had a 0 to 100 kph close to the AMG version of the SLK and wasn’t limited to 250 kph anymore... I drove back to Belgium on the autobahn over 300kph most of the time... Had to slow down because my right calf was cramping from keeping the gas pedal to the floor all the time! No big deal as I was close to the border anyway. The car had a much better sound too

LegitStreetCars mentioned that he is looking for a V12 car now. Here is an idea: W/V140, 600SEL/S600 V12 - of course it is not as fast and exhilarating as the newer vehicles that this channel has been focused on so far, but is considered to be the last over-engineered (arguably) Mercedes-Benz, that was developed for almost a decade starting in the 1980's with over $1,000,000,000 Dollars invested in its development. (Not accounting for inflation) This was also the first time Mercedes used a V12 engine since World War II - where they would have their Daimler-Benz DB 600 series aircraft engines installed in airplanes such as the Messerschmitt Bf 109E. It is also possible to find a modified versions of the W140 body style by various tuner companies, such as AMG, Renntech, Carlsson, Lorinser, Brabus, Lotec, Wald, Vaeth and Koenig Specials (C140). (There are probably more.) It is important to remember that this M120 engine proved to be very promising to the point where Pagani took it, increased its displacement to 7.3 Liters and put it in their Zonda. In my opinion, the most interesting example of modifying the M120 engine was by Carlsson - getting it to 7.4 Liters, mating it with a 6-Speed manual transmission and putting that in the R129 body - Carlsson SL 600 7.4L V12 C74 Le Mans. Needless to say, diving and exploring such content will open this channel for a wider Mercedes-Benz enthusiasts crowd to discover and appreciate. If you think that this information is worthwhile, please upvote for LegitStreetCars to see this.

Scientist conducted pelvic ultrasound scans after urination and during sexual excitation just before and after the squirting event. All of the women had empty bladders before sexual excitation, however, urine collected just before squirting showed that the bladder was filling up. Urine sampled after squirting revealed that the bladder had been emptied again, revealing the origin of the squirted liquid.

Great news on the cams! Another thing I do with my ML63 is always wait for the idle to drop before moving the car on a cold start/sitting overnight to give the oil system some time to circulate. Takes under 30 sec, but good thing to do for a race motor before you put load on it. (For others) One other test you can do that is not a lot of money (around $40) is a NAPA "Block Tester" kit to see if the head gasket is leaking on the M156. It checks to see if you have combustion gases in your antifreeze. You can do a youtube search for "Napa block tester" to see how the kit works.

The 6.3 M156 engine is a total shit show. The head bolts fail just like the Northstar. The camshafts grind itself to shit because of hardening differences vs the tappets. The fuel injectors fucking leak. Any single one of those things happen and you just totalled your car BEYOND ECONOMICAL REPAIR. Do yourself a favor and just get an Small block V8 (which actually makes more power per pound of engine weight and gets significantly better mileage). Or, if really want German stuff get the earlier blown 5.5 M113 engine.

Great video. Engine nice and clean. I do think that a lot of cam wear for miles. Did the engine have synthetic oil or regular. I pulled engines apart running synthetic oil that looked better with little or almost no signs of wear at 80 to 100,000 miles. I do a trick I put a Neodymium ring magnet on the bottom of the oil filter. The three things I do, oil analysis and oil pressure check, and compression of engine tells all. And look the engine up. Case and point the Ford Taurus the water pump is in the engine and if it leaks the coolant goes right in the crankcase, and contaminates the oil leading to bearing failer. If the bearing goes bad since it is timing chain driven it will trash the engine since it is an interference type. (The pic has no political affiliation it's just a Donkey)

Carfax is a joke. Plain and simple. I bought a truck at 110K miles, knowing it had been accident early in it's life. 2 years later, still no additional information with regard to the accident. 5 years later, yep 5 years later Carfax updates the report to say that the car was totaled. They added that 7 years after the accident, just as I was about to trade it in for another lightly used truck. They were unwilling to review the paperwork, their reports, and make a correct. I had a PPI (Post Purchase Inspection) done after I was told about the updated Carfax report with the Salvage report. Interestingly enough, my title says "clean title". In my opinion, Carfax is a total scam. Completely inaccurate reports, and they won't investigate any conflict of information, and they claim no liability to any report they list. Total bullshit! I will never buy another car or truck using a Carfax report as a guide to accuracy of the car. All of these reports might be subject to the same issues.

Its 1995 lap top not 1975, lol :) still in australia the insurance companies will not tell you if a car was damaged before you buy it, full stop the only place where you can buy damaged cars are those which you can clearly see the damage and then its about wholesale cost, meaning that anyone who wanted to fix the car back up would have to fix it themselves and not pay a panel repair place to fix it, as it will cost you just as much to buy a damaged car and fix it compared to a undamaged car and also theres no law at all, that you have to tell anyone that the car your selling was ever damaged and repaired? The insurance companies are the only ones which know this information and in fact some states will not sell a statutory right off meaning the car cant be fixed and must be used for parts only and even then if you added all the parts you can buy off it is the same amount they put on the car to buy, this is a total rip off IMO ?

Sorry I didn’t understand, the tool at minute 14:42 is useful to pull out head bolts without putting out the camshafts ?

I bought my sl63 and then found your videos I have been able to guide my mechanics to issues of importance for they don't see too many 63s and if nothing else helped me understand the motor myself. your one of the few youtube "mecahanics" that I would trust working on my car for most are hackers. I love to see some performance mods on the 63 although from what I see besides long-tube headers, e83 conversion, and tune seems to be the jest of it.

So the seller was foolish not to further assess his assumed needed repairs, thereby losing perhaps $6k in the sales transaction?

At 5:57 you mention a "1975 IBM Laptop." I think that you might have clarified that it is a Model 1975 IBM Thinkpad, circa 2003 or 2004. That simply clears up anyone who might be thinking that the laptop was actually made in 1975 . . .

Check out Tasos Moschastos. He’s THE AMG guy. Last year I replaced all the lifters and head bolts on my ‘09 C63. Also had to replace the right side intake camshaft. It was ground down pretty bad and the corresponding lifters (rear most) were beat in concave. Since the repair, my valvetrain is super quiet and she’s running strong!

I forgot to mention I got a bootleg star diagnosis system from alibaba.com for like $800, came with the Panasonic touch screen laptop and the C5 multiplexer. Software is good thru 2016 on mine I think. You’ll get close to the latest release when you buy it.
