@@startingtech3900 CPO gives you the peace of mind of the new warranty. In these luxury sedans, there are all types of switches and electronics for all the gizmos and gadgets. Having them is cool, but when your massage seat breaks or your rear window switch pops off, you lose functionality. The CPO warranty will cover that stuff so you don't have to worry about the thousand things that can go wrong. You're going to pay more, going to have to go through the brand-associated dealer, but for me the peace of mind is worth it. A normal used car, you can buy an aftermarket warranty, but in my experience the dealer's take better care of me, cover more stuff, and give less problems when it's a CPO car.

I would love for you all to update your experiences with these cars three years AFTER you buy them, and see if you are just as excited about them then. Many people (including me) have had poor experiences with CPO German luxury cars (Mercedes, BMW, Audi), including having major repair bills, maintenance headaches, recalls, and other problems. Not to mention continued rock-like depreciation. And many people have also had problems with these cars that turn out to be "wear and tear" items, or other issues, NOT covered by the CPO warranty, and costing big bucks to fix. Don't get me wrong - I'm rooting for you! But it would be helpful for others considering doing the same thing to get your feedback "down the line" and see how you feel about your purchase 2-3 years later (not just immediately after buying the car). It is approaching 100,000 miles her prior car we bought form her sister off lease (deal couldn’t pass up) so it was 3 years old when she got it then we had for additional and like her current we had no significant issues at. Sister in law has been driving BMWs since we bought her Audi (2009) for some time with no issues. So weird I hear people comment on their reliability being poor yet we just haven’t experienced this yet with the models that we have had, I just bought a 2022 Q7 that has a ton of electronics so has pretty all this one haves so guess we will see how this goes.

I see alot of younger people buying these cars due to their "low" price and then end up getting their reality check, also a part of how hard is to sell such a used car later on. There was a post I saw somewhere on facebook or reddit on a high milage A8 that someguy drove for 10 years and had crazy milage on it, statistics were that dude paid around 1x - 1.5x of another BRAND NEW A8 in repairs,parts and upkeep over the 10 year span. I've tried to buy a used A8 at least twice in the past few years, and they get so noisy with creaks and pops from all of the cheap plastic bits (they do look nice). Once you get a few thousand miles on them it's kind of ridiculous. But it is an issue that plagues most of the luxury brands, except perhaps Lexus. Just surprised so many owners and reviews don't seem to notice (or care). Every time someone tells me theirs doesn't make noises, I'll go for one drive and immediately point out several super obvious noises. I just can't accept that for such an expensive vehicle. Also, even with that big discount on this CPO A8, it'll still lose another 20k in a couple of years. But they are otherwise nice cars, enjoy.

@fourings Жыл бұрын
I’m going to have to disagree with you there. There is a serious reason that the Ghost and Flying Spur cost HUNDREDS of thousands more. Luxury doesn’t only mean the quietest cabin (which Rolls actually tunes because at a certain point not hearing ambient sound can cause motion sickness). The level of detail is unmatched in $100k-150k cars vs Rolls/Bentley. The materials are all more exotic and higher quality as well as offer more bespoke customization but more importantly it’s how far these material extend in the cabin. Basically plastic doesn’t exist. The buttons in the center console on Bentley are made of glass, the fuel cap is solid aluminum, the seat belt receptacles are wrapped in leather, the headliners are leather, the wood inlays are book matched. Blah blah blah.. but this stuff matters and it’s what sets the next tier apart

@seans9125 Жыл бұрын
In a highly optioned S class, the wood is, likewise, book matched. You can get a solid aluminum fuel cap. The seat belts are likewise wrapped in hand woven cloth with airbags inside them. Headliner is Alcantara or leather depending on options. Not to mention the designo leather quality in an S Class is as good if not better than the standard leather in a flying spur / ghost. I too would've thought the "quality" of materials would be better in a flying spur / ghost but they're simply not. The air vents in a W222 S class are wrapped in real aluminum while those air vents in a ghost are coated in reflective plastic. Every single surface can be wrapped in leather in an S Class. Lower door cards in an S class are wrapped in leather. Speaker plates are real aluminum. I have a Bentley Arnage which, in my opinion, is where bentley left their true quality behind when they were bought by VW. Not a single new Bentley has felt quite as exquisite as my Arnage. I cross shopped the same year flying spur with S classes when looking for a daily and wasn't blown away. The steering & pedal feel are tuned perfectly in the S class. The flying spur was likewise well tuned but not any better. Up until recently, the last generation ghost was built on the same platform as the 7 series and it showed in its driving experience, too. Not to mention Mercedes' Magic Body Control easily beats the Ghost & Flying Spur when it came to ride quality. The only gripe I have with my S class is that the gear selector is plastic. Every other control is aluminum coated with perfect weighting.@@fourings

Do not buy this car if you cannot commit to that level of money because things will go wrong if you own it for 3-4 years. Every repair will cost 1,000 dollars or more. This is not a Toyota Camry that you can run even if you don't put oil changes in it for six years. This car requires a lot of savings to run properly, but it will be very rewarding and still less than brand new. I think that people think it's depreciated so it's a bargain and they will save money by buying this but the first thing to go wrong leaves them in debt. This car is for those who have the capital to afford costly repairs. Have a rainy day fund, drive it carefully, and it's a beautiful ride

Makes sense, it's got a LOT of great competitors in that space (with the S-Class leading, Tesla taking a bite w/ the Model S, etc.), and most of the luxury auto market has moved to SUVs it seems. But the A8 is such a classy car, maybe I've just watched the Transporter movies too many times haha.

Great car. I own a 2020 A8l L60. Biggest complaint is the sunroof. Loud and disappointing. Everything else is good. I see comments on cars being in the shop. You would be a fool to buy one of these without a extended warranty. V8TT and almost 30 mpg on the highway. Smooth ride and comfy.

Duuude, I remember when you reviewed the 2012 Audi A8L W12 and you were ready to purchase one. I actually had one of those for a while. Congrats, you've got an A8L now! 👏
@liviumeister7 ай бұрын
Very nice review indeed. He covered everything you need to know for such a buy. In Nov 2021. I got a 2019 A8L spec'ed like this one but not black. I had 11K miles on it, one owner, maintenance paid until 90,000 km, full AUDI CPO until Jan 2024. I have 58k miles on it now, but it rides like on the first day. Sure, I had few minor issues, but being covered by CPO I didn't care. When CPO expired, I got Audi ext warranty for 3 more years to eliminate any headaches. Let's clear some air here for those who are concerned about repairs and maintenance. Once you jump to this class of cars expect to pay more for everything. If you have 20 bucks in the pocket don't go Ruth's Steak house for dinner. If you drove Acord or Nissan Maxima till now and can't afford more don't get into A8L. Simple as that! OK. enough being cocky :). I drove Lexues in the past and they are reliable and "luxury" sedans up to one point (feature to feature comparison to German cars). When you compare the sheer tech Audi put on A8L D5 you realize that LEXUS cannot stand next to Audi in any category. Lexus LS is reliable because it is a simple car and doesn't offer half of what A8L has. So, you want a majestic drive and luxury? Be ready to pay for it and as far as I am concerned this is the way to have it. Wait 2 years for the dream car and get it after depreciated 50% +.

I am a 30yo, 2019 BMW 750 (G12) owner, and I agree with literally everything you said, I just like V8 and interior so I went with it, I also had a few S580 bookmarked, but they were a bit more expensive than what I liked, and a couple A8L as well, but I just don't like 6-cyl in huge car like this personally (same with S550 as well). But again, agree with literally everything you said in this review, one of the best I've ever seen!

the 7 series and A8 seem to deprecate a bit more then the s550 for essentially the same thing they all have a tons of options and amenities i guess people beat on them a bit more then s class owners

@@Tm0n3y762 It' because the S-class has been around way longer than the other two. S-class sells a lot more and it more widely known as the "ultimate luxury car". Also if you look at current MSRPs, the Benz is significantly more expensive. They jacked up the price a lot for the latest generation because of covid, as well as trying to leverage the name against competitors.

I have a D4 and i love it. Audi's engines can't compete with Mercedes when it comes to durability but its still my favorite luxury brand anyway. Audi is lost though. when i myself think Audi nothing comes to mind. the brand has no identity and i have no catch phases or talking points to convince anyone to buy one, it's sad. When you say Mercedes-Benz forget it you think of money, power and rappers dancing around talking about you're the man if you have one. When you say BMW you think, the ultimate driving machine and all that. When you say Audi...nothing. I've had 5 Audi's. They need to hire me to create a identity to get them in the game at least.🤔
