Only the tallest and largest SUVs (Tahoe, Expedition, etc.) require a step-up. The entry height of typical CUVs is about the same as adult standing height, and their doors tend to be taller, so you don't need to bend your knees and back as much to get in (which is especially good for old/overweight people, surprise surprise). Kids will need to climb a bit more, but evidently parents don't care.

People who usually drive these types of cars and are not trying to appear rich for instagram can easily blow money to replace the whole car itself. Usually the true wealthy and not the flexing everywhere young money leases these cars then gets rid of them to some poor sap... even better the true rich tend to stick with higher end Toyota trims or Lexus.

@@michalsadovski I wanted to reply similarly on the original comment. Your experience isn’t the exception with modern Audi’s. They have fastly become the most unreliable, and most expensive, German brand and one of the most unreliable manufacturers in general. It’s mind boggling if you think about the Audi’s of 30 years ago which were very reliable, considerably less expensive than Mercedes and BMW and some models were freaking fast too. All down the drain....

@@michalsadovski imagine helping someone and not being so small as to turn it into a put down and then boast about it. Also imagine not having to brag about how "thrifty" you are for buying a particular brand over another just to compensate. People buy Audis for the tech, the fit and finish and the styling. People buy Kia and Hyundai because they're not rich enough or too cheap to buy Lexus.

Let alone all the little mechanical sensors and engine management electronics that will inevitably start to fail.

"This" is my unbiased opinion, Doug. Since I met you, I feel I need to make more comments. That being said, I had a 2016 Audi A8. I was very young and that was what I could afford in 2018, a two year old Audi. I've always "melted" whenever an S8 was passing by. I think what I like the most about this car, the 2020 model is the connection is makes to the times I was a teenager and equally, the past, when automobiles were more cars than computers. It's totally unassumptious ( a term people use which doesn't exist in dictionaries). Fast, yet elegant but looking like an oversized Passat. In terms of interior, manufacturers need to stop slamming piano black plastic everywhere. This is the modern corespondent of "chrome galore" in the 2000. Really. That and the touch screens all over the place. I think we are heading to fully voice automated controls. I'm not against technology, but I am against screens angled in a way it reflects the sun....and this car is no exception, especially with the sunroof open.

@@jareknowak8712 There are many old german cars in european roads. The reason why we still see old A4, A6, 3 series, 5 series and not just smaller cars, is because we have parts in abundance. In America they have to ship them there. Americans may get German cars in stupidly lower prices compared to us in Europe but, they pay a lot of money in repairs.

I went with the ‘21 Audi A8L 60 TFSI, which is the V8 Twin Turbo. It’s not an S, but identical and slashes $30K from the price. Depends if you want 3.3 vs 4.4 in 0-60. It’s still amazingly fun and $110K, you’re not losing any luxury. At the $140+ range, I’d have to argue for the R8, although this definitely is stealth with room for many.
