I'm an adjunct faculty at Midwestern Dental School Glendale, I have been a professor of dentistry at "The Ohio State University" and I have both owned a large Pediatric dental practice for 25 years, and also have grown a mid sized DSO/Corporate Dental group, so I have some ability to evaluate the quality of dental education. Glendale campus Dental program has caring, educated, friendly faculty, the best equipment, materials, instruments, and the facilities are 2nd to none. Plus, who doesn't love sunshine 320+ days/year...

Hey! I'm awaiting my decision day next Friday and am (hopefully) going to have a bunch of acceptances. I am 28, married, the wife wants to start a family during dental school, and my in-laws live in Arizona as well! I was wondering if there's any way I could be in correspondence with you because I think you'd be a great wealth of knowledge for someone who is in a seemingly similar experience as myself!

Is there any way you can make a video about the interview process? Also, how to answer "tell me about yourself'? When it comes to that question I am not sure if they mean your education background or actual personality. Thank you

With the quarter system, are you guys in school longer during the year due to fewer credits in the amount of weeks to complete them?
@DentalPro2021
@DentalPro2021 7 жыл бұрын
Believe it or not, my school curriculum is actually shorter and has more credits than several other schools. for example, each year at my school is about 150 school days, and each year accomplishes right around 60 credits. if you compare that with another school, such as university of Louisville, they're in school for almost 245 days and each year accomplishes about 50 credits.

+DentalPro Thanks for your response! So if there are more credits completed in fewer days, do you guys cover more material in a shorter amount of time?

How did you find out about which schools are more focused on which? Did you ask them during interviews?
@DentalPro2021

I found out through several venues. asking students that attend the school, talking with liaisons from the school about the program, and probably the biggest one was just going to the school for the interview and getting a feel of how things run there. some schools will even say directly in their mission statement what they are most focused on. for example, university of utah is very focused on research, and every student that attends the school will be involved in some form of research before they graduate.

I’m a new subscriber to your channel man and I’m glad to be one. You’ve got some amazing content. I’ve sweared in the Navy as a HMDA(Hospital Corpsman Dental Assistant). I’ll be 26 by the time I’m out so I’ll have five solid amazing years of dental experience from the Navy. I should be 28-29 years old when finally in dental school. I hear you saying that you’re married and have a baby on the way(CONGRATULATIONS🎊🎊🙏🏿)! My question is how is possible to be married and raise a family while in dental school? I ask that because Im 21 now but by the time 28 comes I could be in a similar situation. Appreciate it brother! GOD BLESS

For non US dentists who want to practice in the US, there is some information that you can peruse through here: www.adea.org/GoDental/Non-traditional_Applicants/Foreign-educated_Dentists.aspx this is a different route to become a dentist compared to what I went through because you would actually enter what is called an advanced standing program and would be able to earn your doctorate within 2 to 3 years at a participating school. unfortunately i'm not too sure how competitive this is since I've never gone through this. however, I can only imagine that it's not as competitive as applying to school the way that I did. I hope that helps. Best of luck to you Sachin!

I haven't heard much. I didn't apply to the school but i have a buddy that will start school there this year. all i really know is that it starts pretty late in the year (like mid september). i'm sure it is a good school though if my friend ended up choosing it because he had a few choices as well. and i'm 27 :)
