Ya know Pontiac became famous for its classic cars, known for their speed, style, and iconic muscle car designs that competed with Ford, Chevrolet, and GM in the 1960s and 1970s. Although Pontiac sadly ceased production in 2010, it made a memorable return by adding powerful V8 engines to modern vehicles, paying tribute to the golden age of muscle cars.
The following Pontiac cars in our video stand out as the legends in the world of muscle cars, known for their enduring popularity among buyers.

A car brand that I miss so much from the 60’s and 70’s when they built iconic cars mainly from the genius of Delorean.

He accomplished so much considering the jealous President of GM fought Delorean at every turn. Purposely sabotaged the Cosworth Vega just to prevent Delorean from having another win (over 80 fewer hp and no A/C). Tried to stop the GTO in spite of the massive sales success.

I have a 1977 Pontiac Trans Am that I inherited from my dad 4 years ago after he passed away. It's got the rare 4 speed manual transmission and burgundy interior. No, it's not fast and it gets a lousy 10 mpg, but I just don't care. The car makes me feel good and every time I drive it, my problems just go away(at least 'til I get to my destination). Its quite an attention getter since its such a rare sight these days. Sometimes, I just sit in the driveway with the engine running and I just keep blipping the throttle just to see the shaker hood rock from side to side.

I owned an 86 Trans Am. It was a beautiful car. It had good power for the day, but anemic by today’s standards. No doubt the GTO Judge definitely deserves top spot on this list.

I bought a 1969 Grand Prix J in the mid ‘70’s for $300. After 5 years, I started looking for a 69 Grand Prix 4- speed. Couldn’t find a decent one, and finally sold my car after 10 years, for $300.( still running and driving)

We had many cars through my childhood but only had 1 Pontiac. It was my fav car we ever had. A 65 Grand Safari wagon. I'm not sure if it was a Bonneville or Catalina but it was awesome.

I always wanted a triple black Model SJ '69 Grand Prix. I never found a decent one and didn't buy the only 428 equipped Model J I found in the late '90's either because it was extremely rusty (but it ran and drove). I probably should have bought that rust bucket!!! I haven't seen one since.

Gotta love Pontiac, it was not only GM's Mopar but also America's BMW as well that can easily rival Dodge (like the GTO compete with the Charger and the Trans-AM compete with the Challenger while the Solstice competes with the BMW Roadster and the Fiero competes with the Ferrari 458 Italia and Ferrari La Ferrari as well.

In 1978, at 21 years old, I bought a dark green ‘66 Le Mans for $750. I often wish I still owned it. Nothing better than cruising down the road in the summer with the windows rolled down. Cars won’t allow for THAT anymore!

This is now my favorite "Boca Bros." video!!! As a 51 year old lifelong Pontiac owner, This video made me very happy. I bought my first one, a 1973 Ventura Sprint when I was 15. Since then I've had many others including a 1969 GTO, another 1973 Ventura Custom, a 1973 Catalina, a 1977 Firbird, a 1977 Catalina, a 1991 Grand Prix SE in addition to several other Pontiac parts cars. The two I've held onto all these years are my 1969 LeMans that was my grandfather's last new car and my 1987 Fiero GT that was my dream car back then. I was furious for a few year's after GM killed Pontiac but at least they aren't being forced by GM beancounters to produce the junk that GM is making today. An electric Pontiac would be the catalyst for me to find some thick rope and a tall tree.

I had a 77 T/A back when with a Mild Build 74 455 in it. The mid range pull that thing had. Before that I had a 72 Charger with a hopped 383 4sp. The Charger was great in the upper revs, but if I had those cars at the same time, I'd bet my house the 455 T/A would eat it from 2500-5000 rpm.

I sold GM , when we were given free new car demos. I always enjoyed the Pontiacs. I don't care what anyone says, but Fiero was fun and should have developed further. The Bonneville was great to drive. The Grand Prix with T-tops and buckets was one of my favs. The Trans Am is simply iconic. For demos, I also drove Corvette, Grand National, Monte Carlo SS, IROC Z, and even a sedan Deville. But my heart was always with Pontiac. The Oldsmobile side was kind of meh.

You left out a couple. Someone already mentioned the 73-74 Super Duty 455 Firebird Formula and Trans Am. But another unsung hero was the 79 Trans Am 10th Anniversary. It was the actual last gasp of factory performance for almost a decade. A properly equipped W72 T/A could run mid 14s with a supposed 220 HP Pontiac 400. The NHRA said it was more like 275 HP despite the fact it had the horribly restrictive pellet type catalytic converter with a single exhaust and an intake manifold that had D shaped openings above the secondaries on the Q-Jet carburetor. Plus the car weighed around 3800lbs with an 8.2:1 compression. It was impressive for the malaise era for sure.

Back in H.S., I owned a '71 Datsun 510 Wagon. I had a buddy who was already married, still in school, who had a '68 Firebird with a 250 Overhead Cam -SIX, we "traded" and wow I sure had a lot of work to do to make that car road worthy, In time it proven itself well worth it. I sold it in '82, to buy my '75 Honda CB400 Four, SUPERSPORT. I still have that bike today , some 42 yrs later.

It should be worth including that up until I guess around the early 80's GM had not yet began using basically the same engines in all their brands. Pontiac cars had Pontiac engines. Oldsmobile was known for large powerful engines, Also Buick had it's own engines also. Even though all the brands were under the GM company they still had lots of offerings from themselves with some outstanding products.

the 68-69 d-port 400 Firebird with headers, true roller timing chain, better rear slapper bars and 8-9" slicks will beat 99% of factory hot rods you come up against. Install a newer designed ram air 4 cam with rhoads lifters and you have a mid 11 second rocket that looks all stock.
