You're absolutely right about the point of identifying them early on. One of RCBs most iconic game was in 2013 against warriors when Chris Gayle scored 175. Unfortunately there were 3 people in the crowd that were i jured and hospitalised. That weekend Chris Gayle, Kholi and others visited these fans. The sentiment around it obviously heart warming foe all the fans.

I'd argue that RCB has started curating these lifestyle experiences only in recent years; the fans were always there. These aren't the reasons WHY RCB has fans, these are the reasons why RCB has been able to retain its older fans. Also, RCB not having won the IPL kind of adds to the fandom, allowing fans to bond in mutual misery. If they just win it, there'll be no big milestone to look forward to in the next season. The first title is always special.

They certainly didn't start as this but they capitalize since pretty early on. Also It's on a toxic lvl at this point. Look at there video on WPL auction. The sheer amount of time he said face of RCB was irritating. Her being a good cricket was like yeah that too, but face of RCB. That's there thought process. In that same auction MI went to lengths for smriti but they stopped way before what RCB was ready too and got Harman for a bargain, and went on to win. But guess what, with renuka, gosh, divine and perry they got the face and hence money. CSK and all other teams had practice session tickets and there were crowd at chipauk too. But with RCB it had nothing to do with cricket. It was purely for publicity and show-off and that quite obviously. Also for RCB not winning adding, you are just wrong brother. Delhi had a fanbase and so did punjab at the initial days of IPL BUT now, there fans are basically irrelevant in grand scheme of IPL fandoms, RCB survived only due to capitalizing and making a business. She did her best in video to paint RCB café as something purely for fans but it's pure business. Capitalizing on what they have and expanding it further. I'm bo RCB fan but I used to respect the fandoms loyalty. But since watching that video on Smriti's auction, I realised and makes sense, but now I dislike this team the most.

Primary goal of any team should be to win the tournament but for RCB management it is clearly not their priority. For them ,this is a Business first then a game. It is good for their brand value but may be not so good for their fans. Rcb has been taking their fans for granted for sometime now but you can't blame them for it,It is a good business strategy. This exactly what Indian team is also doing. They don't care about the emotions of their fans, it is about money first. When you have a loyal passionate fan base like RCB, you want to exploit them as much as you can. That's what good businesses do.

KKR did the same thing since early on 2008. The only mistake they made was they parted way with Dada which made them(fans) lose their influence towards the team. It was a good strategy as a team(bcoz they went on to win the title in later years) but it was a bad move for business. . But I think it was more like rippin off the band-aid. . We all know the state of RCB even as a brand is going to be similar to Punjab once that someone retires.

Deadliest batting trio and face of the team for years, highest innings total, highest individual score, most runs in a single tournament, highest fan interaction which is now compared with top fcs globally, etc.... Best thing of RCB is they did not sack Kohli's captaincy during his leadership (he is still as a leader), instead they gave him more time and put faith. There are many teams in IPL, where they sacked there captains for eg: David Warner and Kane Williamson from SRK and Gautham Gambirr from KKR
