I've always loved the looks of the R7. It looks a bit more muscular than the R1 and R6. The front end is classy and understated. I do love the looks of many bikes from the 750cc four/1000cc twin era of superbike racing, but the R7 just may be the prettiest of all.

@TheRealMrRoboto6 жыл бұрын
Not not both?!??!?!
@the_mad_ratter6 жыл бұрын
@@TheRealMrRoboto nah not both, a titanium crankshaft would have to be larger than a standard one (in mass) to be as strong unfortunately. The elastic modulus (how much force [psi] needs to be put into something before it bends/breaks) Aluminium is ~9m PSI at "engine running temperatures", Titanium is ~15.5m psi, whereas the majority of forged cranks are made from medium-carbon-steel alloys, which have an elasticity of ~28m psi. It's about finding the balance between size, weight, strength and cost with the majority of parts, and alloys tend to win out when factoring weight gains etc against the cost.

When I went to MMI in Orlando almost a decade ago, the Yamaha elective had an R7, it blew me away that one was there, at first I assumed it wasn't an actual R7. Most people that I went to school with there didn't even understand what it was or why I was geeking out, their comments were something like "it's a 750 sport bike, so what, just an r6 with 150cc more displacement". You'd assume that people going to school to work in the motorcycle industry, especially taking a Yamaha specific class would have heard of the R7 or atleast see the trick bits on it and realize it was something much more special. Sad. So, not sure if it's still there, I've heard it was there for years before that, so it is definitely possible they still have it and work on it in the Yamaha electives. The school in my opinion is a rip off even with military education benefits, I feel like they really take advantage of service members to make an easy profit, so I'm not suggesting going to it, but definitely take a tour if in the area to see an R7. Easy, free way to check out an R7 if they still have the bike.

Hi bro, I saw one in the showroom. Can't remember when but she was new. You would be blown away at the looks, especially the paint scheme. They probably look 80% better in real life due to the more three dimensional appearance. And I don't remember the headlights looking tame but I didn't pick that when admiring her for quite a while. So that's another in person detail that the camera doesn't capture. Also the matte black was stunning, like no other matte black I've seen. Writing this brought me back and I think you'll agree when you see it in person, Yamaha wanted this to be a statement, classic in years to come and a piece of eye candy for the detail searching appreciator (not a real word but it should be) of things lovingly created. Thanks for the video bro, from Australia :-) God bless.

I worked at Wilson's Motorcycles in Fresno Ca. back then and had the opportunity to ride a stock (unrestricted) R7 as well as one with the factory race kit that made 155 rwhp on our dyno. I do believe the crank issue had more to do with the crank bearing material that was not correct. We did around 10 "updates" but it was just bearing unless there was damage to the crank or rods but none of the bikes we did had any issues. Still an amazing bike to ride but nothing like a Ducati SPS of the same time period.

Since I saw an R7, I subscribed. It's just something not really tackled by anyone nowadays! They say that '750s are crap' but back in the 80s and 90s, they're the absolute pinnacle of motorcycles. Let alone the YZF-R7 was the final 750 class sportbike that had a class of it's own. Well, it may have not won the title that favored V4s or such, but it's the most specialized motorcycle Yamaha had ever produced.

Being that they made a yamaha yfz750r from 93-98 it made sense for them to make an updated 750 bike. Kawasaki and Suzuki were making the 750 during those years although honda wasnt. And now just suzuki still producing the gsxr750. The r7 definelty looks great and too bad they had a recall requiring the motor to be opened up. I'm sure took away some value for collectors but would still be super rare to ever see one. Few have popped up in recent years, believe one had an asking price of 22k.
