It’s so sad what happened to my father, but he made his choices. If the doctors asked me if he deserved a transplant I would have said no.

All transplant teams have at least one doctor on call 24/7. Sometimes organs become available in the middle of the night so they have to be prepared to perform surgery at any time. They also have inpatients to look after. She may not be able to talk to *her* doctor but she could definitely talk to someone on the transplant team. It would most likely be a resident or fellow. If they couldn’t “solve” the problem she was calling about in the middle of the night, they would probably advise her to present to the nearest ER if something was serious enough or else pass along the issue to her regular provider for them to take care of the next business day if not serious. I work for a university hospital specialty pharmacy that takes care of transplant patients and we have pharmacists available for patients to speak to 24/7.

She deflected blame away from herself, she held herself accountable for nothing she did, and every single 'I'm sorry' held not one particle of sincerity, she even went so far as to say she's done nothing wrong her whole life (my own mother wrote down that her character was above reproach, and not a single persons character is above scrutiny). Knowing how my mother reacted to me calling her out for being a narc I saw a lot of familiarity in this womans behavior...very defensive (to the extreme), eager to get back into the fight (to bully the victim into submitting to her rule...the narc must always have the last word), and even having gone so far as to call him the narc...that last one brings back memories of when my mother tried to prove to me that I was the narc, only to have me state times that her own behavior was checking off all those boxes...since then every time she starts to exhibit 'those' behaviors again I call her on it and she backs off for a while becoming human again.
