I can tell you, from my own life experiences, shells bounce and get kicked. Hard wood floors and tile are very similar in that you can drop a casing from shoulder height and try to follow where it goes. My Glock 32 ejects casings 12-16 feet over my right shoulder. My Beretta ejects about 23 deer to the right. My Sig ejects casings low and at my feet.

Side note: When she claimed that nobody talked to her about her medical needs, only for that officer to find out later that she not only refused medical treatment, but was seen by medics made her lose every ounce of credibility that she might have had left! Then, she supposedly didn't think to mention her hand being broke and basically blamed medics for not specifically asking about her hand because they were only focused on her head 🤦🏼♀️ Money down she had enough time by then to realize how much trouble she was in and thought of a story to come up with for self defense.

It's a hard case to prove beyond reasonable doubt, just by its nature. She can put on an act on the stand, saying that he attacked her first, and a jury is not unlikely to believe her. They don't get to see all the body cam footage, either, since most of it is irrelevant to proving the case.

First responders handled this domestic violence call perfectly! I had a similar situation with my ex wife. She trashed our residence and had a chef knife, chasing me and blocking me from the door. Sge ripped the phone jacks. She threw heavy glass objects at me, which cut my scalp. She also cut me several times when she could. I finally escaped through second story window. My neighbor had already called 911. When LE arrived, at first they assumed I created the disturbance. We had two dogs at the time. When they saw them cowering behind me, the officer( K-9 unit) said, "this guy is likely the victim, I can tell by his dogs behavior!" She was diagnoised having borderline personity disorder. She still tried to claim I caused the violence. That was 20 years ago. Men are victimized too. Im just so grateful they believed me!

The husband wouldn't get life for an attempt. The actual prison time would vary by state, but I think a man doing the same thing would be sentenced at least twice as long. 8 years minimum.

She took a plea deal, it wasn’t dropped it was amended to a lesser charge. There would be no incentive for people to take a plea deal instead of going through with a trial if they didn’t cut them a break on their charges.

@@ShannonT78 I see. I would expect that the prosecution wouldn't offer that deal, since it appears to be very easy to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that she came back to kill him, but I don't really know much about the American justice system so I am assuming I'm missing something here.

@@FeralDucky The last part makes sense. I can imagine her shooting everywhere and screaming at him, but only shot in his direction when he lunged at her to control the gun. Of course, we can't really know what would happen if he didn't try to do that, if he could have de-escalated the situation or if he was going to die. In the end, he survived so that was a good outcome.

So they argue. She supposedly leaves down the road. She returned. She then left again for a couple of hours but returned a second time. A shooting takes place and she gets only 4 years…disgusting. It doesn’t matter if he was shot in the leg. He was lucky really it was just the leg. It could have been much worse.

If you're in an abusive relationship, being alone is significantly better than being deceased. Make a plan, get some support and leave. The courts can help you after that.
