I miss listening to these classic Christmas carols: "Good King Wenceslas," "O Tannenbaum," "We Three Kings," "I Saw Three Ships," and "Here We Come A Wassailing." You just don't hear them as much anymore.

Me too. I just got cast in A Christmas Carol for the 5th time as Scrooge. I love Christmas because there was a time when it was the saddest times of the year for me. I have a family now and I'm very happy at Christmas because I have people to share it with. Merry Christmas!

Here We Come A-wassailing Christmas Carol 1. Here we come a-wassailing Among the leaves so green; Here we come a-wand'ring So fair to be seen. (Chorus) Love and joy come to you, And to you your wassail too; And God bless you And send you a Happy New Year And God send you a Happy New Year. 2. Our wassail cup is made Of the rosemary tree, And so is your beer Of the best barley. (Chorus) 3. We are not daily beggars That beg from door to door; But we are neighbours' children, Whom you have seen before. (Chorus) 4. Call up the butler of this house, Put on his golden ring. Let him bring us up a glass of beer, And better we shall sing. (Chorus) 5. We have got a little purse Of stretching leather skin; We want a little of your money To line it well within. (Chorus) 6. Bring us out a table And spread it with a cloth; Bring us out a mouldy cheese, And some of your Christmas loaf. (Chorus) 7. God bless the master of this house Likewise the mistress too, And all the little children That round the table go. (Chorus) 8. Good master and good mistress, While you're sitting by the fire, Pray think of us poor children Who are wandering in the mire. (Chorus)

So, if "wassail" is something like "ale" or "beer", could "wassaling" be something like "cheleando" in spanish spoken by mexicans? The spanish word for "beer" is "cerveza", but we call it in a fun way "chela"... Hope you can help me... Have a nice 2017!
@Wotsitorlabart2 жыл бұрын
Wassail actually comes from the Anglo Saxon phrase 'waes hael', meaning 'good health'. And there was a wassail drink made from mulled ale, curdled cream, roasted apples, eggs, cloves, ginger, nutmeg and sugar.

THIS SONG SHOULD BE BUMPED UP TO BE THE USA AMERICAN NATIONAL ANTHEM SONG This song is all about begging rich people to give to vagabonds,bums,and good for nothings.Here's why: One of the verses says "We are not daily beggars that beg from door to door; But we are neighbours' children, Whom you have seen before. . Another verse says "We have got a little purse Of stretching leather skin;We want a little of your money To line it well within.. So in essence, we're not beggars, but can we have your money for singing in front of your door? Wikipedia says "the Christmas spirit often made the rich a little more generous than usual, and bands of beggars and orphans used to dance their way through the snowy streets of England, offering to sing good cheer and to tell good fortune if the householder would give them a drink from his wassail bowl or a penny or a pork pie or, let them stand for a few minutes beside the warmth of his hearth. The wassail bowl itself was a hearty combination of hot ale or beer, apples, spices and mead, just alcoholic enough to warm tingling toes and fingers of the singers" Well now we have 1/3 of the entire nation getting gov $ for doing nothing all day. So this song might as well become the American National Anthem!

The song isn't supposed to be a Christmas carol, it's a yuletide carol and it has roots in paganism and replacing "wassail" with "Christmas" is kind of appropriative
