Subway ventilation systems can handle DELs but not SLs. DELs often do shifting operations for new subway vehicles and there is even a pre-PSD photo of doing so. SL day subways were open at the top and thus not suitable as NBC shelters,their secondary purpose.

Now you know why steam had not been used between 1905 and 2012 in the London underground. Although Edwardian Londoners wouldn't have thought of cancer, they'd have thought of other illnesses, which amounts to the same thing as far as policy goes.

Steam never worked on the tube lines..............the Met and the District are not "tubes".
