Great video. Did you put a anti dazzling film in the end? I thought the mirror was supposed to be anti glare already? Thanks
@HermanHitstheRoad2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment, Ricki. No, I didn't. All I simply did was tilt the mirror away from the windows. It's a screen and not a mirror so it doesn't need to point to the rear window.

It's both, kind of. I was trying to use it as both a mirror and a screen. So, you could use the mirror while driving and have the screen come on when you put it into reverse to give you a better view of what is directly behind you. I've gone for the screen on all the time setup

Brilliant video buddy just what I needed. Now I have a question if you could help matey… so I have a reverse camera fitted in my bessacar motorhome already but I’m wanting this for a rear view camera to see what’s behind while on the road , my ideas are to wire this rear cam to the one that’s in for a power source would that work or would it only come on when selecting reverse like the one fitted Then the front dash cam I’m thinking of piggyback to the fuse of the day time running lights
@HermanHitstheRoad2 жыл бұрын
Hi Elites Gaming, I'm not sure I follow you 100% but it sounds like you want to wire the Haloview into the existing camera? If the existing camera's turns on when you put the motorhome in reverse then it's probably getting the power from either the reversing light or the reversing switch in the gearbox. You'd need to check that. I hope that helps?
@MotorhomeDIY2 жыл бұрын
@@HermanHitstheRoad ok buddy I will explain better . I’m going to wire a 12 v socket in my fuse box on dash using a piggy back fuse and other to ground then plug the dash cam to that The rear cam I will have to wire to a light like you have because like you say my rear cam is the reverse cam . I have been told there is a fix for that too The issue is the camera comes on in reverse. And the only way I think you can overcome this is locate the yellow wire at the camera and connect this to 12v ignition so that would make the cam I have in a source to daisy chain

@@HermanHitstheRoad how long is the power cable buddy for the rear camera did you have to extend it . I’ve watched all the video but not sure if you fitted that cable with the blue wire , or that’s the original cable for the camera
@HermanHitstheRoad2 жыл бұрын
The rear camera has a short cable. We extended it to reach the rear lights.

In our previous motorhome we had a fully wired rear view camera - could switch between cameras with tilted down and wider rear view. Useful but didn’t really help in the dark or bad weather as rain would cover the lens. I’ve driven cars with bumper height reversing cameras which is what I’d like, lot more detail for manoeuvring.
@HermanHitstheRoad4 жыл бұрын
Hi Philip, what I don't mention in this video is the fact that it also has rear night vision. I'm going to use RainX on the lens to keep the rain off 👍👍

Good effort and a nice review. I would have wired the rear camera into the reversing lights and attached the front screen to the dash connected to a lighter socket. Then just use it as a reverse camera. Does the ignition have to be on to power the sidelights?
@HermanHitstheRoad4 жыл бұрын
Hi sleepy cats, that was one of our ideas too but we'd have missed out on so many of its functions such as; it's front and rear dash cam and its use as a rear view mirror. Just having it turn on when you put it in reverse is a bit of a waste. Yes, the ignition has to be on to power the lights

Hi again ads, Just waiting on my delivery on my mc10, can I ask how you powered the rear camera to test before you wired up in Herman. Thanks Anthony
@HermanHitstheRoad4 жыл бұрын
Hi Anthony, for the mirror I used the cigarette lighter connector that comes with it. For the rear camera it has a connector much like these (www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01N5CT3AY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_b-5tFb7KB7WA3). So I used a cigarette lighter socket with something similar on the end (we used it to power the 12v TV). You can just barely make it out in the video at 2:05
@etansey4 жыл бұрын
Hello, just wondering, was it not possible to wire the camera locally to the cable going to the rear mounted brake light?
@HermanHitstheRoad4 жыл бұрын
Hi etansey, that would mean the camera would come on when the brakes were applied. The camera would turn off when my foot came off the brake pedal. So we could have wired it to the brake light but it would have been useless.
@etansey4 жыл бұрын
@@HermanHitstheRoad ah of course. Thinking of adding a camera myself but don't fancy wiring the power cable to the light unit. Our van has a 13 pin socket for a bike carrier light bar, was thinking of wiring the camera directly to that plug. Much trial and error no doubt. Thanks for the reply.
@HermanHitstheRoad4 жыл бұрын
13 pin? That sounds like a tow bar connector. It may have an earth and a live for each light. If it has a permanent power connected to the ignition then that would be ideal. You also want to consider where the wires are going. If the 13 pin connector is outside your motorhome then the wires will need to find there way outside. I hope that helps? Hi Vagabond, does it also have a dash cam or is it just for reversing? The way I use the MC10 means that it's always on and I use it like a rear view mirror while moving forward.

Hi Ads, I was told by the supplier that the twin cameras can be used as a reversing and rearview mirror. So I suppose one has to be wired into the reversing light while the other is wired to the ignition or main power...(Where's Chas when you need him lol)
