I think hermits lore-wise are somewhat like the dwarves in LOTR. They are definitely smaller, and tend to walk around with backpacks full of blocks, food, and riches. They love to hoard wealth over time, and take great pride in having a lot stored up, even if they ultimately never use their wealth for anything productive. They are generally solitary creatures, preferring to build up massive structures around themselves rather than live in a communal space. These structures are very much a reflection and extension of their own personality, and one can easily identify what hermit built what structure with a simple glance. However, their solitary nature is often assumed to mean that they are unwilling to collaborate or spend time with others - as such, when they group up towards a common goal, they can achieve great things.

Lore-wise I kinda picture the hermits as little people with enormous backpacks almost twice their size. They're known to be Travellers who explore every world they find and leave enormous monuments as their mark on the world. They earned the nickname "hermits" because of their oversized backpacks and whenever they start building they sort of just dump the contents on the ground and it comes out as a mega build. In short- They're short people who blow away people's expectations by doing big, enormous, incredible things.

I think for the hermits as a race, fae would fit so well. Fae are known to be almost otherworldy creatures from another plain that humans and others can't possibly understand. They follow different kinds of rules of their own, known to find loopholes and be tricky with their words. Are big tricksters and love receiving gifts, usually foods or shiny teasure-like objects. They are also often thought of to have wings, and we know hermits have a strong affinity to their elytra. The elytra could be styled after bug types of wings to associate all the hermits into the "species".

I actually have a theory for the lore because of this: what if Mumbo because he's alone and can't find anybody, decides to inspect the rift and finds out that everyone got inside of the rift, and he realizes that they can't get home. So he finds a way to open up the portal again but doesn't exactly go to the same server? and he goes in multiple time until he finds them but when they go back in together, the portal doesn't lead back to the Hermit craft season 9 server? and then that's gonna be the start of season 10?

Lore wise, I think the hermit species should be shapeshifters, in the way that they can shift to fit the story they’re telling. They have base forms, like Doc is a creeper, and Cleo a zombie, but with story shifting, they can become Medusas, or elves, or turtles or butterflies!

Hermits are intuitive creatures. Their small size makes them perfect for cramming many useful farms into tight spaces. Given enough room, they can grow these farms to produce an abundance of materials. Hermits then take these materials and trade them for gems. A few hermits have attempted to pass off gems of lesser value, but this species really only seems interested in diamonds, using them as a currency, either individually easier to acquire, or smaller quantities of items, or even as whole blocks for bulk purchases or hard to obtain items. Organized, they gather all their surplus goods in a single shopping district away from their homes, so that all hermits can find what they need quickly and efficiently. They are also a very sociable society, often times building near each other and/or connecting their homes through tunnels and roadways. This does not mean they are not without mischief, however, so tread carefully, least you encounter a Hermit a bit to excitable with loud noise-makers of any variety, or even a bit of TNT.

My theory is that Mumbo will return to hermicraft. he will get started up again, familiar with all that has changed and realise that no one is joining the server. He will eventually encounter grumbot who will tell him what happened, and that he need to open the rift. Mumbo will somehow open the rift on Hermitcraft's side, and send a red stone flying machine, along with a note on how to use it, to activate the portal from their side

My species ideas. Hermits are driven by Diamonds, they are like a comfort to them, a feeling of safety. And although different seasons are separate from each other hermits remember snippets from previous series. Hermits are also incredibly long lived, some of their number being hundreds of years old. I also like the idea of hermits being like a big family structure with a lot of close sibling dynamics, especially when compared to the squabbling of the empires. Hermits are petty but they care enough to never leave someone in the dust.

I think Scar, in general, is peak Hermit. Always starting off with something different every season but eventually doing whatever makes money, insane timelapses, and overall goodtimes. Also I like how Grumbot orchestrated this crossover so when Mumbo finally gets back he is the only one on the server and, therefore, de facto Mayor.

I’d imagine a hermit to be a slightly shorter, hard working, smart, and they’re really industrial. They’re like little ants in the fact that they can hold way more than their weight (due to the fact that literally every hermit has a full inventory and is always carrying around so much). Hermits on the empire just give off ant, steampunk, scientist, industrial, hobbit vibes.

My take on the Hermit species: - They are a nomadic people, never staying in the same place for long - Once they are satisfied with there Settlements they seek new lands to start anew leaving their lands fo those that find them afterwards - They are very industrious, always trying to build more and faster than before. Their motivation is to surpass their previous heigth (- probably compensating for their slightly less than average height)

Hermits strike me as a changeling-type species. Clever, quick-witted, and industrialist, but prone to wandering off on individual adventures, following thoughts on a whim, with slightly inhuman glints to their eyes and a penchant for chaos, and possible minor shapeshifting or 'glamor' abilities. Plus, changelings (at least Pathfinder changelings) are all incredibly variable due to the different types of 'hag' they can be descended from, and the multitude of heritages their other parent can be from; this accounts for the Hermits all being very different, despite sharing traits like love of chaos and dramatic flair.

Also, i really liked Jami Sketches comment "I think for the hermits as a race, fae would fit so well. Fae are known to be almost otherworldy creatures from another plain that humans and others can't possibly understand. They follow different kinds of rules of their own, known to find loopholes and be tricky with their words. Are big tricksters and love receiving gifts, usually foods or shiny teasure-like objects. They are also often thought of to have wings, and we know hermits have a strong affinity to their elytra. The elytra could be styled after bug types of wings to associate all the hermits into the 'species'."

I have the best idea for a species . How about we make all the hermits 'taller' and make them look Bigbrain along with a three-piece suit which is matching with their original outfit.They can also wear a belt ,watch or any other accessories which has an H that symbolizes the people of their tribe. If you need defining physical traits for the hermits, I suggest looking to the fanartists! A lot of artists are already drawing you all with various mob traits (yourself with parrot wings, scar and cub as vexes, etc). I know that doesn't really give you all the SAME traits, but personally I think the uniqueness among the designs is part of what makes Hermitcraft so fun. Plus, with all the unique textures Empires uses, you have the opportunity to make your favorite fan interpretations real!

Hermit: A slightly smaller type of person. Very smart when it comes to various Minecraft skills, for example, building or redstone. A hermit could be seen as the elders of the minecraft world and are respected among builders, redstoners and the like. They live apart from most of society like their name implies, but are generally very friendly. They usually engage in economics instead of bartering, typically using diamonds to pay, and are a bit new to the bartering system of new worlds if they find themselves in one that uses this system.

Taking in like Hermit Crabs and HermitCraft aspects, I think the Empire's Hermit species should be like the Rascal from this year's mob vote. Visually, Hermits are short with eye bags and gloves that is individually designed after their iconic skin along with something to represent some bag. The bag can be like the Rascal of a large back pack or a shoulder bag etc. To take on the Empire's role playing and Rascal's trading feature, each episode or each time a Hermit is online, they have a list of requests (up to 3) that another player can complete ALL for a god level weapon, armor, or something good item to have (something a Hermitcraft player may have). Instead of trading with diamonds, this can be Hermits' personally way of bargaining. But as the Rascal is found underground, Hermit crabs are in their dark shells, both are alone but with friends and family at a distance.
