Welcome to Hermitcraft season 10 - Episode 5! This is a wild episode of unexpected surprises and adventures on Hermitcraft. We fix Etho's redstone for him and fish a mending book out of the Hermitcraft seas right in front of Grian and invite me into his secret chamber. Also, we meet up with all the Hermits in the season 10 shopping district to reveal the shop Permits. #GoodTimesWithScar: if you break the bottom piece of a ladder, monsters wont be able to climb that ladder (only you can climb the ladder by jumping before climbing the ladder) hopefully this is usefull 😀

Would you like Some things to help you day scar? Add a fencepost and carpet to the bottom of the laders or a block and raise the ladders and mobs can no longer chase you up them, a raid farm might go well there as a loading boon for the train and will help with any resources you may need I even bet you could pay someone to build the farm like tang or impulse and then decorate the outside, and most importantly hang on to that sand and gravel permit it will make you a mint between doc charging sand for wood and all the concrete's needing gravel it's going to make even more than prismarine off the shop owners and docs customers. :-)

A quick tip for Scar; better hold on to the sand and gravel permit. DocM has already obtained almost all of the wood types and plans on accepting sand as a payment method. So, a monopoly on sand is going to be really good. I even see sand being the unofficial method of payment for the season because of that.

And they are both needed for Concrete too. Sure it's not the block, but the materials may come in handy.

And even for TNT, and for farming cacti for the XP farms. Impulse has plans for expanding the cacti farm afaik and Tango is also planning on making one because kelp gives so less it was kind of a wasted effort in terms of getting XP. So, Trader Scar should by all means keep the sand permit to himself.

I would suggest to break the bottom ladder block so mobs can’t climb up to your train, but then we wouldn’t get chaos/panic Scar.

From what I understood from DocM's video, mobs only really climb ladders if they are placed on trap doors... Because their pathfiding is wonky with trapdoors, they keep going forwards and up the ladder.

Scar, I would recommend you to remove the bottom part of the ladder to your train. First it would remove the ability of mobs climbing your ladder, and 2nd it would make more sense for your train to not have your ladder touching your rails. If you look at trains with ladders they are usually hovering a bit away from the tracks.

For anyone who didn’t see Grians video, the issue with the mending book is they figured out that the type of book you get it based on the seed type if your in a single player world and you fish you will always get a predetermined list of loot from fishing. In a multiplayer server everyone pulls from this predetermined list that was created when the world spawned. This means Scar stole Grians book because now he has to shuffle through the whole list until the next mending book.

I haven't watched the video yet, but I saw you mention that you got the sand permit in Grian's episode. If you still have it, DON'T TRADE AWAY THE SAND PERMIT. Doc is going to sell all his products for sand instead of diamonds, so owning the sand shop is going to make you the richest hermit.

The problem is that sand is a very tedious resource to grind, especially if you dont know how to build tnt duping contraptions. I'd rather someone with more redstone skills get that contract than someone who would have to do it all by hand

The funniest thing about Impulse, Pearl, Iskall, and now Scar fishing up a mending book is that the fishing loot tables are pre-set on each seed so every time another Hermit fishes one up it is one Grian could've had, and it pushes up the number of casts he will need to get one. 😂

The data pack with mob sounds might be one of the best additions to Hermitcraft. I love the subtle story that happens with the fish sounds this episode. Scar just casually playing fish noises whenever he passes by, and Grian breaking the noteblock in the middle of their conversation without even acknowledging Scar's shenanigans. It's so great.

@@HexadecimalCrsh That's a hilarious but stupid idea, Scar has been demonstrating extreme skill and extreme haplessness in combat, often in the same scene, for many years. Scar in Hermitcraft does not pay attention to danger the way Scar in Life Series does because death is basically consequence-free when he's close to his spawn point. It's also very funny to watch him let mobs chase him around, so there's no reason not to do it.

Instead of using the mail portal, how about a portal in front of the train? That way you have the illusion of continuity without needing to build track in front of the train. That and you can say your train is Nether bound.

Grian said he'd trade the painting for a mending book, but he didn't specify that *particular* mending book. Go get one from Doc's villagers at the village near spawn, and keep your catch up in its frame. Also, for the love of little baby creepers (they're adorable, and just harmlessly go POP when they explode!) take the ladders off the lowermost block of your way up to the train. That will prevent mobs from climbing up after you!
