Until now, I hadn't realized that the whole piece is built on the Gregorian Dies Irae theme. When I was a child, my favourite part of this magnificient piece was the one that begins at 2:17. I love this version so much, because whereas in the original midi recording this part is only drafted, this version actually elaborates it, and it makes me feel at utter peace. It is as if, after all, the only way to defeat the hordes of darkness is with immense (godly, even) love and forgiveness. As if Paul Anthony Romero wanted to explain to us that the corpses that form the army of the Necropolis castle are not to blame, that it was never their fault. They just want to rest. Dona eis requiem.

It makes me feel like they yearn for the peace of the afterlife, that they long for their release...from the lowliest skeleton to the mightiest lich, an undead wants only one thing: Peace. Pie Jesu Domine.

"Our nation's goal was to kill the man who banished us from Erathia. However, Nighon and Eeofol's subsequent invasion has done us an unexpected favor. Erathia is strewn with the dead. For the necromancers, this is a season of harvest. This is a season for war. Queen Catherine is a formidable foe. To defeat Erathia's remaining military, we need a tactician greater than her. We have a plan... an ironic plan. While Catherine organizes the last stages of her war with Nighon and Eeofol, you will sneak into Erathia and locate King Gryphonheart’s grave. Be wary. The region is occupied by scattered Erathian. When the gravesite is found, we will resurrect the dead king and make him our pawn. With King Gryphonheart commanding our armies, his former home will become our Land of The Dead."

That last part from 2:18....... So emotional but strong. And very, very, very romantic. It's just like one big and pure love was ended because of one partner tragically died young. It is a big lose for the one that remains living... So big that he/she is also not live anymore. Nor dead either. Wow.

Wow, you poles are really grateful when people show respect for you, I was half anticipating a wedding proposal on the other video for blurting out the few polish words I know :P (joking aside,) such cordial and nice people you are. :)
@rhaenyrareigns2200
@rhaenyrareigns2200 6 жыл бұрын
Well, *mrDjuroman* wrote his message with almost perfect grammar. Not to propose a wedding or make you laugh or something, but thank you for your kind (and funny) words. :3 Obviously not all Poles are nice people, because we are just human beings, but I'm guessing that since our history made us suffer a lot we don't want to feel this past pain anymore and by knowing it we don't want to cause it in other people. That's one thing and the other... well, we are a small nation, no wonder we are kind of delighted when people notice us (especially when we are aware that there are things here deserving to be noticed). I like to explain it this way: if you have many kids and all of them are extremely talented but one, this one child, in a way, craves some attention, right? I think that some parts of Poland look down on themselves by default. You know, like really small villages. And kids raised there have some sort of inferiority complex. But all this aside, we generally are very welcoming. In case of our language, we know how difficult it is, so we appreciate foreign people using it. Appreciation and respect is one thing, and amazement is another. Seeing someone who's not Polish speaking Polish is almost like watching magic (and who doesn't like magic, right?) There's a whole channel dedicated to this phenomena: kzbin.info/door/swNqsexgXyEon17FxYv-7Avideos Many points mentioned above boil down to our culture and history in which we had to keep our "self" alive under occupation, 100+ years of it, when everything that made us who we were was tested and assaulted with eventual elimination in mind. I talked about it in a different comment section, but I'll paste it here as well: Poland has reclaimed it's independence 99 years ago, in 1918 after 123 years of occupation (the country was divided between Russia, Germany and Austria; we had genocides and forced "Germanization" / "Russification", etc.) However, after Poles regained their country's freedom they stepped into a dark period of communism (and WWII happened) in which the government was pretty much controlled by foreign puppet masters. In September 13th 1989 it finally turned into a democracy. It was 28 years ago. Generations that lived through the wind of changes remember how people were fighting over toilet paper not to mention other necessities. Our first president was assassinated one week in the office. All nations have tough history, but not all had it tough "lately" (as in these last 100+ years). It's not to degrade other countries' history. Just a small mention to provide some context here. I hope that it does not sound too "martyrological". All in all, although not all Poles are the nicest people under the sun, majority is, as you said, pretty cordial. It's a part of Slavic soul, really. We like to party and have this inner need of cultivating a sense of national pride. I'm positive that there's nothing that makes a Pole happier than someone interested in the "Pole" part that makes him or her who he or she is. Sorry for rambling for so long. Here, have a treat: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qKOUdYadn82Fp6c Happy New Year. ^___~

Rhaenyra Reigns, first of all I must confess that I feel obliged to somehow congratulate you for writing the longest comment I've ever received in my 8 or so years of youtubing. Be honoured. Heck, usually _I'm_ the one who rambles, and by a far stretch at that! Now I just feel humbled, but not just because of this... Your condensed recounts of struggle and perserverence and compassion within the spirit of a single nation are very moving, and your ardor in these things is easily identified through your writing. I grew up in a land with a coast just opposite of yours, but my deficiency in ability to relate to the hardships of you folks is simply glaring. I feel a fettered kind of jealousy on the behalf of my nation for the benevolent qualities that evidently rose out of this strife. At the same time, there is compliment warranted in the fact that despite this devotion of yours, you are not entirely apologetical for your own, but concede readily to faults that are observable in all peoples. Ergo: No neurotic chauvinism here, but rather an extroverted and benign nationalism. I can't finish with polish (oh, excuse me..!). Ahem, I can't finish this reply having neglected to mention what resplendent english you speak when (as I understand) it is not even close to your mother tongue. I love it when people take apparent care in what they produce with their words, your insightful comment was as much a surprise as a delight. Not to mention the time you must have dedicated to it. All in all, thanks man ! :) Peace. PS, where exactly did OP err grammatically? Just curious. I't looks like he wrote "I'm not polish, but I speak a little, your orchestra is really excellent", but I have no feel for the grammar. Shucks, I might just have to learn polish now..

I thought the theme of H3 Necropolis cannot be played more eerily beautiful than it already is, but you guys are AWESOME (with all your music, not only this one). Favourite town, favourite theme, favourite unit (dread knight), favourite heroes. My only complain to both HoMM 3 - RoE and SoD is that you have no option to choose which faction to win - thus necromancers lose twice on the brink of victory.

Hell yeah, dread knight was so huuuge! I can still remember his stats (I have not played the game since 2002 I think). 20 attack and defense skill was higher than bone dragon's and he had 120 HP as well... and that special skill while attacking, which doubled (or something like that) the damage he caused.

@@89Epro Very late reply but for those who are interested - it is from a latin chant 'Dies Irae'. Google translate can translate the lyrics found in the description, but the jist is that someone is praying to gain God's mercy and to void the eternal fire and gain 'eternal rest'. Of course, being in the Necropolis town theme...that eternal rest did not come to pass, which can be quite harrowing to think about.
