What a beautiful story about the great Danes and the little boy they saved from drowning ❤😊❤

When I was 15, I wanted my dream dog, a Great Dane. This was back in the early 1970's, before computer and cell phones has been created for homes. We were very dependent on the Sunday edition of our local newspaper, the Los Angeles Times, in the Advertisement section. New ads were added every day but Sunday was the day of the highest readership so it was a huge edition. The Pets section was also extra large. For a few weeks, the first thing I did was to search the Pets section for Great Dane puppies that were for sale (animal rescues were not talked about back then). I didn't want to bug her, so I only asked her if we could go to a Great Dane breeder one time per week, every Sunday. We already had a dog and three cats, so it was a full house. Still, I persevered. Then, came the Sunday morning I had been patiently waiting for. My mom completely surprised me by saying, "Yes," when I asked my weekly question! I was screaming with happiness while I jumped up and down (something I hadn't done since I was a little kid)! Long story short, I did go get my dream dog, an eleven week old blue Dane with beautiful light colored eyes! I named her Chelsea. Her temperament matched mine perfectly! Our other dog, Sam, liked her and our cats got used to her, especially mine. She'd join in the walks I took Chelsea on, just to the corner. Then, my cat would go back home, which was fine with me because she wouldn't get lost. Chelsea got along with all dogs and people. She was calm around children. Sometimes, I'd walk her over to the neighborhood Thrifty's drug store. There was a small ice cream counter just inside the door. I'd go in and get myself a chocolate ice cream and a vanilla scoop in a cone, for Chelsea. There was a bus bench (no busses, though. lol) in front of the store. Chelsea loved her ice creams and never took her eyes off of it. I'd make her sit for her ice cream. She was a gentle eater, so nice. Of course, she definitely ate faster than I did. After the minute it took her to eat hers, she watched me like a hawk as she sat at my feet, eating my ice cream. Sometimes, people would feel sorry for her because she wanted my ice cream cone so bad and she didn't have one. I'd laugh and tell them "She already had hers!" lol That made the person laugh, too! lol Chelsea and I had so many good times. She was the perfect height for me, not too tall. 😀 Anyway, the amazing Danes in this video showed the calm, alert, and caring personality they are known for. I have to admit, though, I can't picture Chelsea jumping into a pool like those dogs! Then, again, we never went into or near a pool. Danes are special in ways that most breeds aren't. I still miss my girl sometimes but having a dog won't work in my life for the time being, maybe never (arthritis). I will always enjoy the many "great" memories Chelsea and I created. 😃

In an emergency people will either act with clarity of mind, become hysterical and freeze (be useless), or they will run. This woman had been trained in CPR but it was a waste of a learned skill.

I couldn't agree more. My German Shepherd didn't come from acgreat line I trained her in each and Rescue. She found at least 100 dead people. She loved my baby daughter and continued to do so after my dog's death. She lived 12.8 years.
