I tapered years ago from 8mg a week dropped 1mg every week 7,6,5,4,3,2,1, then the last week skip every other day 1mg. The withdrawal was 5-10% out of a 100% VERY MINIMUM. That was my experience. Little to no withdrawal symptoms. Minor fatigue but not bad and I did sleep about 5 hrs a night so that's sweet when considering the full agony of withdrawal... I've also seen people live very successful and positive lives with long term use. It's a way better alternative from my experience and what I've witnessed.

I reacently started my yearly „sober-October“ and right on the first day I meditated and found my mid-brain with my frontal cortex, in spiritual terms, gained connection to my heart back and it feels absolutely awesome :) I felt a gradual, but REAL relieve since then and in the 4 days of being completely sober I had no single intend of using, gained almost all of my old security in life back and I’m so endlessly relieved and happy about that still :) I have difficulties thinking about the time when I had no connection to my heart, I basically didnt feel my emotions or others emotions and endlessly conplexified my whole life with thoughts inside thoughts inside thoughts... I was hiding and ashamed for completely natural human things, because I didn’t feel the emotions that usually lead peoples ways. I understand now that babys get born as very wise beings that only feel emotions, and sadly many people in today’s society lose this ability completely, which actually makes them feel like they are dead inside. Im looking forward to the next video with you two, and by the way did I mention that meditation helped my regain connection to my heart?!

2017 I was in the hospital and after leaving was then on 12 medications and pre drs I was taking: Xanax, Perc, norco and coke. The opioids caused the worst withdrawal symptoms for me over coke and crys. I am not at all proud of my choices in the past and I made it through all of that. I personally had been in a suboxone clinic and I haven’t touched an opioid since! I stop suboxone cold turkey(don’t ever do that, I was stupid). For me the suboxone was so disgusting even now thinking about it makes me absolutely sick! Having to take zofran each time I had to take a strip and not even helping the nausea I was just done! Even in the clinic I had done coke one weekend and had gotten really sick and in the clinic found that it was laced with fentanyl! Haven’t done anything anymore ! Praying for everyone. Addiction isn’t just drugs and with support we can all get thru it!

I can’t stand drs that push keeping people on subs long term.. they make more money that way! There’s NOTHING wrong with using it to detox. That’s how it should be used. Coming off of it is so hard even if you taper, and the longer your on it the harder it is to get off. That’s why a short detox/taper with subs is preferred.
@sunshine25025 жыл бұрын
I'm just curious. Are you a doctor?
@DrBAddictionRecovery5 жыл бұрын
It is actually not preferred by any scientific body. In fact, if you look at the economics of the recovery industry, they make millions more by short term use. EVERYONE RELAPSES! Also, I put in so much time with my patients my colleauges make fun of me as I lose money. As for my IOP patients, the insurance companies love me: I get them out of the vicious cycle. I hope that helps and I thank you for comment. It gives me the opportunity to educate.

It was mind blowing and so incredibly encouraging. I really truly believed I was broken and would never get back to my old self so it was like a miracle when I got it with methadone. I've been taking suboxone for 13 years and honestly I have struggled with drug addiction since I was 17 I'm 34 and even though I have to keep taking it it maintains my outbursts to do harder drugs that I once was using it is a miracle drug
@visionary5563 жыл бұрын
And another thing that makes it a miracle drug, is the way it's applied. At least here (northern Europe). It can't be received through private practitioners, but is only given through public health care. And in there, you have to get it every day. For six months, to earn one weeks home dose. And every time you also have to give drug test, and you are checked for IV marks. After six months this is only done once a week. It sounds kinda cruel and humiliating, but saves lives. And it gives people their lives back pretty fast. You are forced to stay off drugs for the six months by daily testing, and after that it kinda becomes a habit. You get used to saying no to your old friends, when they are trying to offer you something. And you get a daily routine back into your life, and before you notice, you are working, just because it's so boring to be at home 24/7. Especially when you can't see your old friends, or don't want to, cause you know your gonna do something stupid if you hang around with them. And some morning you wake up, get ready for work, and while standing in front of the bathroom mirror washing your teeth, you realize that there's a normal human being staring back at you, in their own apartment, healthy looking, dressed good, with the keys of his/her own new car in their pocket. Gone is the toothless, filthy, stinking, malnourished homeless person from just few years ago.

I was on Suboxone for 5 years and have to say most of what was said is true. However anything of 16, maybe even 12mgs of Suboxone a day is plenty for all but the extreme cases where ppl use maybe 3-5 grams of dope a day. For me 8 then 2mgs for the last two years was perfect. Also buprenorphine goes against normal junkie logic. We think more is better right?? Well not necessarily with buprenorphine. It breaks down into nor-buprenorphine once metabolized by your liver. Now nor- buprenorphine has a much higher affinity than straight bupe, and is more euphoric. That means that when someone takes huge flood doses of buprenorphine you’re not allowing any of the nor-buprenorphine that was just metabolized to reach the receptors in your brain. Small doses is the way to go 4mg and even better would be 2 mg per day! Thanks for reading! Great video!!!!

Suboxone screwed me up harder than the heroin I was addicted to. I never hear other people have the same experience as mine. I must have been too light of a user because I never injected, just smoked heroin. I was given four 1mg doses for the first day. I was even debating with the doctor, thinking it was too little. By the time I took my second dose (of 1mg), it screwed me up so hard. I had weird dreams, and I was so screwed up the next day, that I couldn't even drive back to the doctor's office. I ended up having to quit cold turkey and it was hell, but looking back I'm pretty glad it didn't work for me, because I wouldn't want to have to withdraw from another opiate.

I like that you got sober without Suboxone and arent on Suboxone and don't judge for it. Most people that are stone cold sober look down on people on Suboxone. But the fact is while it is a crutch, it not only keeps you alive but allows you to live a normal life. And theirs a very good chance they will one day get off Suboxone altogether.

Fantastic interview! My son passed away 7/4/18 from heroin/fentanyl overdose. He was a great son despite his substance abuse. He was on suboxone for about 5 months before he passed. During that time, I got my old son back. The son who had so much ambition and drive. So when used properly it is a great drug. My question, if you ever have the dr on again, is does this drug take away all the cravings? Because eventually my son started not taking it for like 3 or 4 days and then he would try and use again. The last time he got Fentanyl he passed. I was just confused that he would stop taking it if he didn’t have any cravings?

My sincere heartfelt sadness for your loss. This is a great question. I call this the supra-tentorial effect. The addiction is so steeped that the mid-brain overpowers the frontal cortex in executive decision making (stop the subs). If you note in the discussion, I point out everyone is at a different place in their addiction given age, lenght of use, etc etc. I always say a monkey can write a script, but how the patient is managed takes a doctor. Therefore, that is why I cut up the care different for all patients. Some I force to come in and see me weekly, some monthly, some twice a week. I have have that gut instinct that your are moving forward before you get a month worth of scripts. You have to show me the frontal cortex is evolving. I hope this makes sense and again, I am sorry for your loss.

Dr. B Addiction Recovery thank you so much for answering. As I’m sure you can assume this whole life changing event has changed our family forever. Now I can see he was not far along enough in his treatment for his brain to be healed and we as parents didn’t know how to help him. I belong to several mothers groups whose children have died of an overdose. The pain is so great it is like Dante’s Inferno. I wish we could put the genie back in the bottle. But it’s too late. Thank you for giving us the education. It’s too late for my family but I still need answers since I feel like my son was stolen from our family❤️

I would love to be on your show. I had an injury when I was 17 years old. I was stabbed with a screwdriver through my shoulder. I was given opiates from the age of 17 to 28. I decided to get off. The outpatient de. I went to outpatient dr. Who are kept me on suboxone/subutex, for 10 years. Worst mistake I have ever made. I went to a new doctor who cut my dose in half the first appt. with him. He said it was insanity I was on it for that long. I have been suboxone free for 2 years now. I feel great. But I will say this I understand why people get scared of getting off it because it doesn’t matter when you decide to jump you are going to have withdraw side effects. It’s totally doable if you really want off. But that depends on the person. I am living proof it can be done. Tapering - I tapered from 16mg’s to 1mg over a period of time in medically controlled environment. Even though I stopped at 1mg. I still had withdraw side effects. But with the right medication like zofran and seroquel and antidepressants. I made it though. I am a healthy 39 man and now alcohol and suboxone free. Suboxone free for 2 years and alcohol free for 1 year 4/23/2020. Suboxone is the wolf in sheep’s clothing. i want to be an advocate or peer counselor for those exiting rehab. If anyone has any questions please feel free to reach out. The only thing that happened to me during my suboxone use was my pain receptors are now fried. I don’t feel physical pain. I just had a appendicitis and I didn’t know what it was even happening till I went to ER and my appendix was rupturing in the ER. Thank god I was there when it happened.

The only bad part is having to find a doctor in New Jersey that has the license I think every primary care physician should get the suboxone license because I had to go through hell to find one only time I had taken it was in rehab went 5 times this time around I just applied for Medicaid and found a doctor the emergency room prescribed me in the mean time in Camden and from there I showed my new doctor all my records I get my script once a month my family let me back in and I start work next week at Wawa tired of people saying ur not sober if you take them in my eyes I am idc if I take it everyday it’s my medication just like blood pressure for people or diabetes or anti depressants

@@joshr6626 Suboxone doesn't have a history of seizures that I'm aware of, if it can it's very rare. And Suboxone is MUCH stronger than tramadol. Tramadol's seizure risk stems from it being a norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor, not from it's mu opioid activity.

Clint Eckerman my father has had countless seizures because of bup but he also doesn’t use it correctly and he also abused tramadol (which he has also had a seizure on) before jumping over to bup so maybe that’s what causes it? He had no prior history of seizures before abusing opiates either

@@DerekLambertRecovery Great question. The data is clear and we have known for a long time. THE BRAIN IS ALOT MORE PLASTIC THAN WE THOUGHT!! In short, our thought has been that as you age those connections cannot heal or regenerate. In truth, the really smart guys doing research have shown that even in old age and neuro-trauma, this thing can heal and grow and stay healthy. That is why you see all the cognitive excersises for the elderly. Ever hear you dont use it you lose it? Well, that is it. Ok, I gotta get some sleep then I will try and answer more after a nap. I’ve been on suboxone since 2008. I have slipped up and did heroin or whatever since probably 2012. I did shoot suboxone til about 2 years ago and that was extremely difficult to stop doing. I don’t even think about doing it anymore and that probably took 6 months to a year to get over. Good interview. It’s like a different drug or medication since I take it correctly. I guess my frontal cortex has connected with the mid cortex. Essentially I guess my brain has partially repaired itself.

I've been on Suboxone for 4 years now, I tried to quit cold turkey and lasted 3 weeks off the medication, I decided to go back on it today because I didn't want to lose my job, but instead of taking 8MG a day, I'm now taking 2MG and I want to taper off within 3 or so months. Not really sure how well this will go but i'm more determined now that I have a better understanding of the medication and how potent it is.

Less is more with suboxone.. I Figure out real quick That doing a whole 8’or even half was never necessary , I would take an 8 mg and cut it into 8 pieces,’I would just take a little piece in the morning and it would Last all day and the I’d take one at Night to sleep.. believe me less is more.. also don’t use it for long times , use it for 5 days only , the way detox does it here where I am, it’s one 8 days one, then 4 mg on days two , 4 mg on days 3 , 2 mg on day 4 , 2 mg on day 5 .. and then day 6 nothing , and nothing .. it works guys Do not do Long term ...71 days💪🏽

Currently on day 21 of suboxone withdrawal. I wished he would have acknowledged the problem women face when on suboxone- if we get pregnant we’d have to quickly withdrawal or have a baby born in withdrawal. Neonatal abstinence syndrome is devastating. Every 15 seconds a baby is born chemically dependent. You may blame heroin but as an RN I mainly see it from methadone and suboxone! I tapered off subs over 6 months; totally off for 21 days and Im still in withdrawal. it was so severe I was just in the hospital for dehydration and low potassium. I had been drinking plenty of fluids...but I was literally peeing out my ass hole for 2+ weeks!!!! I knew I had to get off subs long before becoming pregnant, because I’ll be a mess for a while. I’ve always been depressed but it’s worse now. Clean for a year but now wanting to go back out. Cravings are bad. Yes it saves lives but it leaves much to be desired. The drug companies have us hooked. 💰

Another problem with suboxen is some pharmacy's don't want to fill the script. Most people are locked into a pharmacy, and sometimes that pharmacy is out, then patient has to find a pharmacy to fill script . Some of these pharmacy's treat people bad and won't fill them. Also you can get a DUI for being on suboxen. Just had a friend who broke down at a gas station and the gas station workers called police on her. The cop searched her car and seen suboxen strip and drug tested her and gave her a DUI.

Listen, I’m trying to get the word out about a VERY VERY addictive over the counter pill called tianna otherwise know as Tianeptine! You can buy the tianna form at almost every gas station where I live ( in Alabama) and can purchase online as well!! I’m on suboxone ( from a previous pill habit) and I’ve NEVER EVER tried to take any opiates since being on it ( 4 years now ) I was curious one day and gave Tianna a try ( like a complete idiot!!! ) and it surpassed the suboxone in my system and got me high!! Well it gave me that I can conquer all feeling type thing!! So...I started getting them to help me deal and focus at my new job!! Slowly it became a habit!! Now my suboxone won’t even work like it should!! I’m so disappointed in myself!!! That I allowed this to happen!! There’s a whole community of people that are in the same boat as I am!! I wish they would ban this stuff here! They banned Kratom ( I believe ) in 2016. To me, this stuff is way way worse!!i would love to go more in depth with you about this!
