I find it very calming to even just watch you making bonsai. I feel more balanced just having appreciation for bonsai. I would say the difference with bonsai compared to other hobbies I have, is that the results are long lasting, the therapy is reinforced every time I see the trees I have styled, every time I style them further. The rewards endure well beyond the time actively working on them.

I found dealings with my ex's anxieties was hard work and she never wanted help or thought there was a problem most of the time ,my bonsia hobby helped me to deal with the struggles ,even after she said i care more about my bonsais. I told hear exactly what the gentleman in the your video said ,it made me carm and i found it easier to deal with the stresses of life.i continue with my hobby in bonsia now ,even tho my collection is much smaller due to my ex keeping some of them. This has helped me let go and move forward with life in a more peaceful way.thanks for all you do Peter and crew .

Hope your spirits are high and you feel at peace from doing bonsai. People talk of 'Golf widows' ie those people who have partners that are obsessed by golf and there could be 'Bonsai Widows' too. No problem so long as you keep things in proper perspective and you still have a good relationship with your partner. Wishing you all the best.

I appreciate doing bonsai for reminding me of the natural cycles, the seasons, patience and our dependance on nature. All of which got lost with industrialism and digitalization.

I think the smell of the trees ( and the soil ) is also a gateway to memory smells associated with holidays.

I see 2 major factors: the combination of creativity and analysis/craftsmanship activates both halves of the brain which is beneficial. Also bonsai and plants in general have their own tempo. A big part of mental struggles originate from stress which is everywhere in our modern society. Our trees force us to decelerate.

A very important subject, Peter. Here in the States, especially in one of my clubs, it seems that retired seniors turn to bonsai in a serious way. It keeps the mind active, provides a social outlet, keeps the mind focused on the future, provides a source of delight. Retired teachers sometimes turn to teaching a new audience.

Would be even better if they had taken up bonsai earlier - but it is never too late to start any hobby or pastime - I took up dancing 12 years ago and I love it. New passion for me.

We've been running around the forests and prairies for thousands and thousands of years, no wonder we feel good around trees and nature... its our habitat, our archaic brain is build around it....but most people forget or lost it along the way and are not in touch with themselves due to the modern chaotic time. Relax, listen to mister Chan and do bonsai 😃⭐️⭐️

I once read that the origion of Bonsais was to use them as focal points for meditation - they are idolized nature...

Not heavy prune just yet - we do light pruning but serious pruning and re-potting starts in mid February in our area
