I love the Volturi, they were perfect lawful antagonists and I'm so glad that they weren't defeated and killed at the end. What I find so fascinating about them is that their existence is absolutely necessary in the vampire world, but they also have their own wicked agenda. I would love to see a spin-off just about them, maybe in the animated form, 'cuz it would be kinda useless without Michael Sheen reprising his role as Aro, he was the best thing in this franchise.

It’s not the worst but as an indigenous person it did feel like indigenous people were not properly represented at all, they did not need to cut their hair and worst of all they did not need to glamorize reservations. It could’ve been a great opportunity to showcase indigenous people unlike films/books before but it was all just done poorly. Besides that the only other piece of criticism I would have is they could’ve had better costume designs for the volturi but it’s not really an issue to be fair.

What's interesting is at the begining of the movie Edward says that Aro has no respect for humanity. Take that as you will. But he believes they're superior to humans. To say what he said and to call Edward soulless was just so manipulative. He only knows that because he got in Edward's head and it's all just a game. He doesn't truly believe or i can bet care about humans. He just finds Bella and Edwards dynamic amusing

I would say however that the law of the volturi is completely vital to the existence of humans in a vampire world. It's pretty much the only thing stopping most vampires from killing whole cities if they wanted to.

Alice doesn’t see the full future, just snippets or possibilities. After all, Alice didn’t know if they were going to die or not, so she made arrangements for Jacob and Renesmee to escape. So it’s possible Alice didn’t know. Also, though Aro is thousands of years old and could be capable of taking in all the information in a minute, it makes more sense for him to skip through it and focus on the information he wants.

I wondered about that too but not nessisarily the shield part but wouldn't Alice at least known about the pregnancy because that was a very BIG part of why they had to change her to save her life. I think Alice held back a lot of information when he took her hand. She showed him all he needed to see at that moment.

To this day, I still don’t think the Volturi are inherently evil. They are enforcing the rules to protect and preserve their kind and they’ve been doing that for centuries. Bella just seems like an exception because she’s the protagonist. Seriously, a human being knows of their existence? These vampire leaders are right to lose their shit. I honestly think they went too soft for a punishment here for the Cullens. I would love a Twilight movie again, but a Volturi spin-off.

Yes, they normally showed no mercy, but in this case I think Bella was spared because Alice could tell Aro that Bella is going to be a vampire in the future. Bella shows as a human that she had the gift of being a shield, Aro knows this ability will become enhanced when she becomes a vampire.

I have a theory that they would have changed Bella and got rid of the Cullens… they were so intrigued by the fact that she was immune to their abilities…but they realized that she cared way too much about that family and wouldn’t have wanted to join their cult…so they let her go in hopes she would join them in the future after she changed into vampire… because a new born vampire is ruthless and don’t have the same human emotions as they used to…which makes sense as to why they were so obsessed with monitoring her transformation…they probably assumed they she would have lost feelings for Edward and wanted to join forces with something more powerful…rather than kissing Edward all day, because she wouldn’t have had the same heavy emotions as she did when she was human

All of the vampires that have extra powers, also had extra powers when they were still humans. Bella's extra power is her ability to shield her mind. Once she is turned into a vampire, another vampire realizes that Bella is a shield and lets the rest of them know. Bella later learns to extend the shield past her own body, which allows Bella to protect others from Jane.
