Love the way you plan for so many things that could happen. Looks like it saves you a lot of stress.

The Hertz rep's concern about most people's lack of knowledge regarding ev's is why we need Drive Electric Week events to support ev literacy. I appreciate your educating us about the real world experience. Someday you should take a complete never sat in an ev person off the street and tape their learning apprenticeship with one or two different brands of ev's.

Yep plenty of great charging sites in CA, but a lot more users. If I really need to charge in those areas I try to find slower sites.

We visited Yosemite mid-week so I found the chargers at our hotel near Yosemite Westgate and Oakhurst were nearly unused. I only saw one other person charging at Westgate during our multiple visits to that site and one other person at Oakhurst. So maybe I was lucky or it was the combination of mid-week and not yet peak tourist season.

Karl, Live traffic and Sat view are Premium subscription only. Not surprised Hertz would skimp out on the $99 a year subscription. I’m curious what the rental rate was for the time you had it? There are lots of 250 kw sites in the bay area, but you were already at 49% SOC. Not much benefit to be gained beyond a few minutes at best. Even V2 would likely be crowded so you’d still be maxed out at 72 kwh. See you at the Meet Up.

Ah that makes sense. My rental rate was about $100 per day with taxes but without additional insurance. Both times were in California and under 1 week, so it might be cheaper to get a weekly rate.

Too bad the CCS adapter doesn't also function as a J1773 adapter.

Agreed. I know there are some aftermarket ones out there that to that, but you have to be super careful that you don't get a cheap one that allows the DC connectors to be tied into the battery while the J1772 is plugged in. You don't want to get near a live 400+ V connection. I don't know which are that way, but I've seen a few cautionary tales.
