I've been a (norwegian) Polestar 2 owner for more than 3 years and is very, very happy with this car (came from an MB C-class). I agree that the center console is not a great design. Leg room is no problem, but it could be better. The cup holder arrangement is also bad. That is about all I could complain about - which in any case, is more than compensated for by the driving/owning experience!

I just returned from the USA where I rented the Polestar 2 from Hertz in Orlando. It was my first experience driving an EV so I was pretty excited. What I loved about it was the responsiveness of acceleration. What I didn’t love about it was how heavy it felt and how difficult it was to find a fast charger. If I rented a Tesla then finding a charger would’ve been a lot easier.

Ex BMW owner driver, The Polestar 2 is the best car I have owned. The blind spot indicator is there and the 360° is also there. Left hand drive, that leg thing I did not feel. I would get it if it was right hand drive. I am a 187 cm guy and the frame post between the doors is a little far forward for me but I am used to it now. My pet peeve is the the emergency flashers are always going off when using the center panel. My leather jacket sleeve kept touching it and activating it. Other wise drives better than my BMWs. Enough said.

I say the same. I Was BMW driver for 12 years. My Tesla is better than any BMW I ever drove including the M4. And the best thing is not having to deal with profiteering, dishonest middle men dealerships that only serve their own interests. Dealers are 100% revenue focused, OEMs are product and solution focused. The money saved in moving from bmw to Tesla has been dramatic to say the least.

Cars, even EVs, are not just about numbers. How they feel and drive matters (to me at least) and in this respect I think the current RWD Polestar 2 feels far better than Tesla 3. I own the XC40 Volvo version of this car and highly recommend it. No center console problem, as it has a slightly smaller integrated screen. It only has the one (very strong) one pedal regen drive, but I find it to be one of the best features of switching to electric. The 'get in and go' without a start button is the second best feature. It is a luxury feel, as I previously owned a Cadillac SRX and the are very similar. Especially the comfortable seats. Acceleration is a blast. 4 seconds to 60mph. I have it optioned with blind spot and 360 camera. 360 camera is a must for parking. It is also necessary for adaptive cruise control, however the lane assistance is not as good as other brands. Benefits of owning the Volvo version is having access to dealerships for warranty issues. The only downside of this vehicle (volvo and polestar versions) are the range. 150-200 miles tops if you drive it like the Electric Viking, which of course I do. I have had no problems with the car, software or hardware in the 3 years of ownership. I have got at least 10 over the air updates which have added notable improvements to the experience and even added some range. Try that with an ICE vehicle.

I test drove both on the same day, back to back. I bought the Tesla, and it wasn't even close. The MAIN issue with the polestar, is not the woeful efficiency, weight, small cabin, price, poor handling and performance, or limited software features.... It's that there's no space for your left knee when your foot is on the footrest. Seriously, the most uncomfortable driving position on ANY car I've ever driven. They say it's because of the transmission tunnel on the XC40 chassis it shares.

Have had 2019 model 3 SR+ and 2020 model 3 LR DM. Recently bought a 2021 Polestar 2 LRDM with pilot and plus packs. Agree it feels very stable and predictable. I can’t throw it into corners with the same confidence that I could with the Model 3 LR but it is heavier. I bought it because I wanted to pull a 1200kg caravan which it does very well. Model 3 was limited to 1000kg towing. I don’t have a problem with my leg on the centre console but I’m 1m74. Biggest pain is poor visibility at acute angled junctions. Model 3 and Renault Zoe do not suffer that fault. Plus I did have to learn a new bending technique to avoid knocking my head when getting in but that is OK now!

I also found when i swerved sharply to avoid a pot hole, the car reacted badly as i felt the weight shift in the heavy vehicle. Yes is was fast abd comfortable, i also found the touch screen very distracting, needing to take my eyes off the road for even the most mundain tasks. A few nobs for basic functions heaters wipers light's etc would have solved some of these issues. As this was my first experience driving an ev, i found it somewhat unsettling.

I had the Polestar 2 for a couple of days as a rental in Belgium, and I loved it. It was a left hand drive and I didn't have the second issue you mention, no problem with the central console. For the rest, it's a real car with good ergonomics, that also happens to be electric. Contrary to the Tesla 3 that is an EV which pushes some controversial choices, such as no central screen, no front and rear parking sonars, no leather inside, and even no more lane change levers. I hated the seats and the steering wheel of a recent dual motor Tesla Y, it felt cheap and badly built. The Polestar feels solid, and while the interior ad well as the available paint colours are far from joyful, the car exsudes quality and drives well. The prices for new cars are excessive, but the second-hand cars are very well priced. And it has a hatch...

For me it is a very practical car, The liftback design proves very useful, as the boot has even a bigger space then a V60 D6 hybrid estate my friend has. I use the light steering settings and full one pedal driving as this is the best setting around town, and for the i am using autopilot. so dont bother with medium settings. I am 1.80 an the centerconsole and legroom are just fine for me and no issue, the view to the back is fine, i have the 360 camera, and the view is fine, so dont base your judgement on a stripped down version, because it does not do justice to this great car. I have driven the new model 3 highland , but even the new model felt less premium in comparison to the polestar2, and felt to basic for me in the interior and suprisingly the autopilot proved worse then the polestar to me in real life use, and i could not live with having to stalks on roundabouts, so Polestar 2 for me was an easy choice.

I have the P2 LRSM older version, I'm 1.85m and don't have an issue with the centre console but I understand why some might. Get an extended test drive anyone who is considering the P2 to find out if it would bother you. I always drive with full regen on, it can be harsh initially but you get use to it and after a while you can drive it without it being jerky, I rarely use the foot brake at all. It returns over 300 miles on a full charge for me in a British Summer and 250 in the Winter, not as efficient as a Tesla but at 2p a mile I'm not overly worried about that. The reason I didn't get a Tesla M3 are 3 fold, it's a saloon which wouldn't suit my needs, second there's no drivers display not even a small one or a HUD, third they are just so boring to look at. The new version has another reason as well, no indicator stalk which is pure madness. I have been on a journey in the back of a Tesla and while it was spacious it was very uncomfortable over our potholed roads here in the UK. The suspension was even firmer than the P2 which is definitely on the firm side.

The advantage of one pedal driving is you have total control of your speed, even down a steep incline. Gravity always messes with you driving an ICE vehicle. On my 2024 M3 dual motor I only press the brake pedal maybe 2% of the time. The pads will last the life of the vehicle.. I like that the Polstar has different OPD settings. I’d like it if Tesla had a slider control for personal preference. OPD is up there with being the best driver feature. Pity our ATTO 3 doesn’t give the driver a better choice. It’s regen braking is a bit lame.

Unvolunteer co-owner of the car here. Can´t stand it. It´s cramped bordering on claustrophobic. Very low. Knocks the head in the roof every time I enter it. Staring into the black field above beteen the too low wind shield and the useless sunroof. Have to bend down to look to the sides when driving in complicated areas. The sunroof makes it very warm in the summer. Extremely big center console that press on the knee and in general takes up a lot of space (also in the backseats). Can´t rest foot when driving auto. Uncomfortable fabric for arm support. Very impractical inside. The huge center console has almost no storing place (for drink, stuff, etc) It has a turn radius the size of a super tanker and its not very easy to get an overview out of, so very clumsy on car parks, parking houses, etc. Feels very heavy. Despite the pretty large area of the boot, its one of the smallest there is in volume (significantly smaller than a Nissan Leaf for example) because of high floor and a very low roof. Luggage for four persons is really not realistic, let alone five. This is a car made for singles or couples without kids, who are lower than average and/or likes to sit on the floor driving, likes to cruise on the highway, and thinks its important that the car is pretty. As a practical tool for moving people and stuff from A to B its a hassle.

I think the Polestar 2 i is a great car. Not perfect, but a lot of the shortcoming you mentioned you can get over it with taking the time to set up the mirrors etc. and just time in the car driving it. My big annoying issue with it is the giant middle console near your legs. It just takes up needless space and being tall, I was wishing that was slimmer so I wasn't feeling hemmed into my driving position so much. Also the price. It just needs to be a AUD45-50k car. The current price is just not competitive by a long stretch. When it came out it was really a choice between it and Tesla as the main EVs to choose from, the market has come a long way since, but Polestar hasn't. But in saying this, if I could get a second hand version at say half price and it was only a few years old, I would probably get one.

I find that almost every other manufacturers BEV feels more “luxurious” than my MY LR. It begins with the feel and sound of the doors closing, and gets more “luxurious” from there. But I understand that everything in the design of a Tesla is done for a reason. They could make the space shuttle more “luxurious” by adding 2 “big ass” recliners and a fold out hide-a-bed, but it would definitely affect the performance. I’ll stick with my MY.

I just rented a polestar 2 from Hertz. It’s an ok car but nowhere near a Tesla. After a couple days there were things in it that just got annoying. Ahh, the cup holder(s), what a terrible place. The screen was also annoying. The front a/c vents are not good at directing air like a Tesla. And I can’t understand why my kids were freezing in the back while me and the wife were slightly hot up front. And of course charging it was a pain in the ass.

@@chrisroberts3963 Tesla software is good, efficiency is good and typically great performance. But Polestar (performance version) are still better to drive and generally better quality. I also like UI while it performance OK, it slower to react than in Tesla. Winter driving with Polestar is on different level, 4wd is just so much better than in other cars including Tesla. And while many things have improved in new Tesla's like seats are very nice (old were horribly slippery), suspension is quite OK, then some idiot decided to remove stalks ... :o

I would look to Polestar for an autonomous driving option, it only comes in the Polestar 4. I wouldn’t trust an autonomous capability unless it had the redundancy of LIDAR. To many ppl have died in autonomous mode, while Tesla has brushed off claims as driver error. Tesla has also been cited for making false claims. Until the regulatory framework exists for autonomous capability, or the insurance liabilities are worked out, then the whole autonomous thing is a moot point. The thing I wanted to hear about is whether the cameras recorded activity around the parked vehicle, or maybe whether the driver assist calls out the posted speed limits.(which I’ve missed before) I don’t need to feel as if I’m dominant by man-spreading, so the console won’ bother me. I would buy a Polestar over a Tesla, because the battery pack is probably safer, and there’s no associated sense of privilege at all because there’s no subsidy or association with the culture surrounding the CEO. I very much prefer the execs at Polestar and Volvo.

One of the most uncomfortable cars I've ever drive. Very very finicky car, doesn't handle well, badly designed interior, everything about it is very uncomfortable(seats fine but clostrofobic design) and one of the worst UI's, with a tiny screen. ), basic stuff that they can't get right.

When I collected the car it was raining heavy and I was driving back to the Sunshine Coast from Brisbane. Like for like, model to model vs a new model 3, slower, heavier, bad cabin ergonomics, worse economy, less luggage space, a massive legacy transmission hump down the middle, mediocre software, limited access to the best supercharging network and is significantly more expensive to boot. Putting all this together it's obvious why more PS2s are sold every few days than Model 3's sell in a year and why Polestar are still profitable in a tough car market and Tesla are effectively bankrupt.....oh wait it's the other way around 😆
