Here are some FFXIV memes from the Final Fantasy XIV Subreddit! I look through the top posts of all time, and most of them are actually pretty good. A lot of them are from 2 years ago, when FFXIV took over World of Warcraft. Either way, I think the posts today were great. Maybe we can make this a series!

I will say...probably will get Hate for this. I don't mind if people do it to me if I am watching something I just won't skip if they start haha. Feel like it creates even more toxic and bad environment witch hunting the person that started a fight. And I usually tried to defend them like hey not a big deal. Also feels more rude on my end to make like the 23 people done the fight 100 times wait haha.

I've literally made a grilled cheese during the Prae cutscenes and gotten back to eat it before the cutscene ended 😂.

You really could do anything during Prae though. I remember when I joined one and accidentally got almost the whole party to just play Smash with me during the cutscenes. It was hilarious.

As a healer if someone runs into boss while someone watches a cut scene I let them die.

I recently returned to this game after a three-year break. I loaded up my old character and couldn't remember a damned thing about how to play. Of course, I had been booted from my free company (guild, for those more familiar with WoW terminology) during this time; that's way too long to keep someone on your roster in the hope that he might log in again someday. I decided to start a new character just to relearn how to play. This required me to go to a new server; Squeenix had so many new players join up while I was out, they locked all the old servers and started requiring new players to play on their newest servers. This was a good idea, IMO; if you're just starting out as a new player, you have to run some dungeons in the course of doing the Main Story Quest, and this is something you will find more difficult if everyone on your server is already level 90 in every job. It definitely improves the new player experience if other people are leveling new characters on the same server/data center. I'm really enjoying my return to the game! My new character has been leveling up very quickly, and was recruited by a new free company full of nice, friendly people. I guess she's my main now.

"Gift I got from WoW for being subbed for 15 years." That one actually isn't true. My family was very into WoW and Blizz in general, having been big fans of theirs before WoW even released, and my dad has been pretty much subbed non-stop since it came out. After being subbed for 10 straight years, they actually sent him a pretty well made miniature replica of the 12 foot tall statue outside of their headquarters. I consider that to be roughly the last good thing Blizz put into place before becoming the dumpster fire they are now. Still glad I swapped to FF.

As a new player (little over two months in and at the end of HW now), yes, they do not always wait for cutscenes. When I did Deepcroft, I kinda was just letting the cutscenes play at the time, and my Burger King friend was tanking the dungeon (i was DPS) and when we got to the boss and I was in a cutscene, the other DPS started without us. My friend called them out for it and they were like “well they can watch us kill it then”. I find it funny that they went ahead and started the boss WITHOUT THE TANK cause my friend always wants to respect and welcome new players. But also, you don’t get trapped outside the boss area even after its sealed! If you weren’t in there when the fight started, it does prompt you to “move into sealed area”. Only if I died was I locked out from re-entering mid fight. I’m not sure if this is newish, cause some longer standing players don’t seem to know about it, but I’m glad it is there so I don’t have to completely miss a fight over a cutscene.

To add, I’ve recently started a habit of playing Healer when I do a new dungeon/raid that I want to enjoy the cutscenes in so that if they start while I’m in cutscene… well… skill issue honestly

To be fair, it's a rule for me to let the new sprout enjoy the MSQ. But sometimes i'm just too used to rush and wall to wall. So i start without the sprouts . But i won't blame them it's my fault

Why not try out Bozja or Eureka of you haven't? You can get quite a bit of time and enjoyment out of them. The logos actions and lost actions let you do many things you can't do anywhere else in the game, and they both end with large-scale raids that are very fun with interesting mechanics! (Baldesion Arsenal and Delubrum Reginae Savage)

I was so happy when I finally finished Eureka as a Bard main. I even went the extra step with getting the Relic Physeos weapon even though it doesn’t change the look of the final form. Plus BA is loads of fun especially Absolute Virtue

While they did Shorten Prae, overall, and split fighting the "ultimate weapon" into it's own stage. still the monologue before you fight that last guy.....

2:59 legit my shiva raid yesterday. They kept saying "sword &shield, BOOOOW, SWORD &SHIELD NOW" and I am, just a normal sprout, got extremly confused. I after the 8 wiped I ask if they mean the paladin and the bard but no ... The boss will change her weapons and this actually matters. I didn't know that. I died anyway... I hate playing as black mage, the cast time is to slow. :(

Although my wife(healer) and I(tank) always wait for cutscenes, I've had people not wait for me when I was a sprout, and it asks you to be teleported in after the cutscene. Unsure how long after the fight started its supposed to last though, but there's that.

So the whole thing about the game being full was because during EW launch the game servers were bursting at the seams with returning players, so much so that SE had to suspend digital sales of the game because queues to get in could be hours long.

Also, it wasn't so much final fantasy players turning people against wow when the really big mess happened, as much as some (not all, but there was a very vocal minority) who would harass people they saw playing wow to stop and play final fantasy. Turned me off of FFXIV at first and it wasn't until I came back about a year and a half later that I gave the game another shot and ended up liking it.
