I think Olga & Lila, especially Lila, are much more grey than you're making them out to be. Olga tried to bond with Helga (which is a positive), but she never stopped or tried to dissuade her parents from treating Helga like shit (which, in my opinion, is a big negative). With Lila, there's 3 things: 1) The happiness and positivity that she displays is a front that she uses to deal with her issues and insecurities (just like Helga & her bullying). 2) She wouldn't drop out of "Romeo and Juliet" until she forced a confession out of Helga (even though she already "had a feeling" about Helga's feelings for Arnold). 3) On multiple occasions, she led Arnold on (& even fell for his boring cousin that looks pretty much exactly like Arnold)

Lila put her foot down. i dont think her crush on arnie should be counted against her either. She doesnt have to reciprocate feelings at all, but she gave arnold false hope, i think we mag be too harsh when we call it leading on. she expressed it wasn’t impossible to develop feelings for arnold, she didn’t guarantee it, there was a miscommunication in their interactions.

@@MrRyan-wu4jx My issue with Lila is that I think her niceness (if that's a word) was at least somewhat fake. For example, forcing that confession out of Helga (when Lila already had a "funny feeling" that Helga had feelings for Arnold) wasn't exactly a nice thing to do. That's not the right way to encourage people to get together. It was obvious that Helga didn't wanna tell Lila, but Lila made her do it anyway. I don't have an issue with her not reciprocating Arnold's feelings. My issue there is because there were times that she led him on ("Love & Cheese" & "Timberly Loves Arnold" are examples of that. There may be instances that I'm forgetting, but she certainly did it in those 2 episodes.)

It doesn't work because of the 2 characters age difference in a close and similar time frame. If Hey Arnold had been created/happened later, like 2010s - now. Then enough time and years would have passed for Doug to have had life experiences and decided or discovered hes gay. And then had a identity change, picking a new name. Either to leave his old life behind or hide his new one. Its a stretch, but thats the only way the theory would work.

Arnold definitely deserves to be #1 on this list. The other people before him are just doing their job. There's no way Mr. Simmons, the Psychiatrist, or sub could pull off some of the stuff Arnold did. Yeah, he may have abused his martial arts skills once, and he may be a bit too proud at times, but....he's 9. For how mature and moral the kid is, he should easily skyrocket past the adults here. He's easily one of, if not the most "good" character TV has ever seen. Of course he can't save the planet from supervillains or anything, but I'm willing to bet he would if he could.

As his True Intentions were Malicious. And Herald should be Lower Grey. Merium should be more Low Grey. Or Bad, then Evil. Big Bob is Evil. How he's Above Merium is Beyond me. He's a Prick. Wolfgang is Pure Evil. Again, the Worst seem to be Ranked Bad, and those who aren't as Bad, are Ranked as Evil. At Least when it came to the aforementioned.

I know. Phoebe's usually a very sweet person. Remember the time she agreed to purposely lose a quiz show to let Helga win, and then helped drill her with questions to the point that she fell asleep standing up, and never complained. If Helga hadn't had an attack of conscience, Phoebe's kindness and passivity would have earned her a trophy.

Ok but does gerald go out of his way to do good things? he kinda a net zero on the chart for me, neutral. he also puts little effort and the good actions he makes come from giving into & following Arnold along, not out of self sacrifice. I guess you can say its not for “the right reasons” but because hes practical. He can also be arrogant, self serving and judgemental. It comes down to how u define good and evil. Do intentions matter. Is goodness the net sum of your actions or is it more about quantifying the impact of your actions. Etc etc. On the other hand helga makes the biggest gestures of kindness and goes thru the most effort when she’s actively doing good deeds. It comes from the heart & because shes empathizing. shes not always in the headspace but her good moments are often big self-sacrifices. But again, her defense mechanism is being a bully so she put out a lots of negativity in the world too. It’s difficult to weigh it all

Also, all the borders should be lower, considering they KIDNAPPED Grandpa and Grandma when they wanted Mr. Smith's secret package! Adults should never bully children so the Jolly Olly man is excused for his placement on the list. Wolfgang technically can change with age. As for Oskar I don't disagree with you on him but I really don't think he has any redeeming qualities; he's not really a douchebag like Wolfgang but he also a user and a bad husband. Him not hitting anyone is kind of the one way he's not higher than Wolfgang which is too much of a technicality to put him lower.

This video was very knowledgeable with excellent depictions of each character. However, I would put La Sombra as the most evil character. Mainly due to his "I'm evil and proud of it" personality. I mean he gave little care that his entire crew was killed off during the booby trap scene, impersonated Eduardo to trick Arnold and his classmates they were on a field trip and takes them prisoner, threatens to throw Arnold off a cliff, among other things. "So you've heard of me? How flattering! Well I am infamous!" "Yes, I used the Green-Eyes own treasure against them. I thought that was a very clever, evil touch." "You pest! Just like your parents! When I was going through the video, I was worried about how you were going to rate Stinky because I definitely knew you weren't going to consider him a good character. At the very least I was just hoping you would think he was less "evil" than Sid. I was most certainly satisfied when I saw him be the first one on the gray area scale. Stinky is one of my favorite characters of Hey Arnold, so I'm happy to see at the very least he is the most good in the gray area in your eyes. It's too bad Iggy wasn't important enough to be on your list though. I'm kind of curious how you would have ranked him. La Sombra definitely would have beat Scheck though if you decided to have him on the list. Either way, I enjoyed this list and I found your reasoning for some of your choices interesting.

Hey guys! So as the person who wrote and ranked the cast originally I felt I should take responsibility on something I've been seeing a lot in the comments: Lasombre. The Jungle Movie was a weird experience. I've been waiting for it for years just like many of you but I felt it had little of the charm expected. That doesn't mean it was bad, but if I took more of the second movie into account for this script, certain characters would have been way too easy to rank lower. Lasombre is an evil guy without a doubt. But I wasn't going to fight to get him on this list because even if he is a decent villian, he simply isn't a worthwhile character. The whole movie made our beloved cast seem dull to what they once were. And given how much time has passed, that's expected. So I was reluctant to have the second movie contribute anything to this ranking. Ultimately I had no choice in the case of Brainy. He would have been easy to take off this list since he doesn't have much background. In fact we had to pass over a lot of characters to slim things down: Peapod Kid, Nadine, Timberly, Lorenzo...the list goes on. But Brainy? He's voiced by Craig Bartlett, the creator of the show. It felt blasphemous not to have Brainy here! (In my opinion, anyway.) So to answer your questions (demands?) YES if Lasombre was included he would be most evil. Sorry we couldn't include everyone. I agree with all of these except for Lila. While Lila was definitely sweet in the earlier seasons, she eventually started to show a darker side (as confirmed by the creator of the show) mostly in the Season 4 episode Weird Cousin. While there was nothing immoral about her rejecting Arnold for not liking him back and she was still his friend, she decided to date his cousin Arnie in front of him and even pushed Arnold away when he comforted her at the end for Arnie rejecting her. She would’ve fit more in the gray area, not necessarily a villain of any kind but definitely has an unfortunate side as she purposely makes Arnold feel jealous.
