@@iller3 maybe for the other bosses, but definitely not this one, this one is just a player model. His poise works exactly like yours. Woolie's setup has very little poise, armor, or hyperarmor, whereas his opponent is swimming in all of the above. But you can absolutely interrupt this dude, I know because I just beat him after switching to a bigger weapon.

Just to clarify this because this misinformation is spreading like wildfire: there is no weird scaling or anything in the dlc. If you were to somehow beat mogh at a low level and enter the dlc, you would get 1 shot by everything. The new level-up system just straight up makes you stronger but is not a replacement for the regular levels, which still matter. The idea that the content is scaled to the player comes from journalists that misinterpreted something michael zaky said.

I was wondering about this, and how the scaling works with NG+ cycles and such. Cool to have a definite answer. The tree fragments feel very impactful over time. Took a bit, but mid way ish through i no longer need to heal after a single hit or trade lol.

I'm level 125 (not planning to increase cause it's for PVP stuff) and the "normalization" seems pretty good to me. I was watching pat play and we take/do extremely similar damage even though his damage stats are a -lot- higher than mine. Although... this last boss has been really really tough so I dunno if that's just my level or the boss itself.

@@stevenluoma1268 Like I said, there is no such thing as "normalization". It doesnt exist. Pat is extremely high level but his stats are spread out evenly. His vigor is only 50 for example, most people at level 120-140 have 60 vigor and are therefor slightly tankier than pat. Armor, talisman etc. all factors in as well.

I love Blackgaol Knight, cuz he's really strong against jumping heavy attacks as shown in this episode. Most people use that as a main option to beat the base game. As they should, it's very strong, but he feels like a lesson saying "That's not gonna work here"

The advantage of this kind of status-based melee build is that you can around all his attacks, stick to the enemy, and keep the flurry of hits and status procs coming. It's also one of the hardest ways to play. Hitting him once and respacing is the exact opposite of what this build is good at! I understand being afraid of the enemy though, especially coming back after two years

Yeah, this is why a lot of people recommend a quick warmup session before leaping head-first into the DLC. All the little tricks a player picks up during the base game are lost after a hiatus.

After seeing your comment, I immediately checked and yes indeed, the game audio is mono but this is completely my fault. I must have accidentally converted to mono in post-production. Nice catch. However, rest assured, the stream itself was in stereo. I'll make sure I won't repeat this mistake starting with the next stream session (episode 5 and beyond). Thank you for pointing it out.

It's not but it is a skill check. Pat demonstrated that he's trivial if you can guard counter consistently, and I've seen others just learn his patterns and whittle him down.

i beat him before scuda tree upgrades , yeah it' took me like 24 mins cuz he is unbreakable but once you learn his patterns getting hit isn't an issue it's just timing, woolie picked the worst guy to warm up on like EVERYONE DID, tho mine was Homeless logan in the woods...oof like 12+ deaths...

Yeah his patterns aren't that complex but pending on your level it's easier with some scaling tools added, he's just capable of ruining you in two hits. He's a great warm up for those who have been away for a while though. The WICKER GIANTS THO....

In this dlc, if you get one or two shot it generally means you dont have enough scadutree fragments and should come back after exploring more. Just because you CAN beat a boss by whittling them down and no hitting it, it doesnt mean that they want you to play like that. If you're a masochist, sure, but otherwise its probably smarter to just be a filthy casual.

Does Woolie's idea of the retribution system actually work? I mean I know once an enemy is frosted, fire will take it off so you can reapply frost sooner, but before the frost triggers do fire attacks not interfere with the buildup?

Fire only removes the downtime after the frost pop, it doesn't affect the buildup at all for whatever reason which is super sick
