I really like your relaxed view on watches and how you styled your outfits around them. I agree watches should be fun and fit you, not someone else's opinion on what a watch should be. Been following this channel for a while now and have gotten many styling tips over the years. This is one of the best, no nonsense, no jumping around shouting 'hey guys', trash talking others, channel for men's style. Keep up the great work!

Those watches don't speak to me. Watches should reflect your personality -- as I stated in the video which you may not have watched -- and as I also stated, my style is classic with a modern sensibility so I choose watches that make me happy and that match my style. We have different ideas about what a "fun" watch is. Seems like you're also proving my thesis.

I can’t remember which KZbinr said it. But it’s always stuck with me. Buy what you like, the only person who cares what is on your wrist is you. You are right, there is a lot of judgement and snobbery in watches. My modest collection is built up of mainly affordable items and the most worn ones are £200 and below.

Having collected watches for almost 20 years. I have always strived to understand why someone loves certain watches. If it’s a flex. Fine. That’s nice for them. Not for me. But if it’s as something as small as loving the way the indices looks in low level restaurant lighting? Then I can get behind the weirdness. Also, I don’t need to love everything. They all cater to their own segments. I cant and won’t want to own all but I can appreciate them and love them for those who enjoy them.

Brian good to have you back and love your take on watches - very relatable. Nomos was my first serious watch 9 years ago and boy have I fallen down the rabbit hole: just treated myself to a Patek 5070g to commemorate my upcoming 50th lap around the sun. I have to catch myself taking the hobby a bit too seriously and when I do that’s what gets me back into that headspace that made this fun to begin with. Thanks for what you do - really refreshing content as always.

I think you look so chic in that terra cotta suit. The color is reminiscent of those gorgeous terra cotta roof tiles in Florence, Italy, or perhaps the rusty red ferrousness of Sedona, Arizona red rocks. It is so earthy and warm and rustic in its color, it's so different than the traditional suit colors. The texture of the fabric is so breezy and woven, which is such a contrast to smoothness and prim perfection of a silk suit. The suit fabric is porous and wants to breathe because it is a breath of fresh air and represents breathing in all of glorious summer, of breathing while being relaxed... The t-shirt in its white color is fresh and casual and it goes so well with the light color suede sneakers. The absence of a collar adds to the relaxation vibe. Of course you put it all together with your impeccable grooming, the skin care, your wellness rituals of exercise and diet, and the accessories like the watch and the sunglasses. A plus Brian Sacawa!

It's funny, I had on a version of outfit one a few weeks ago at a family gathering. White Ralph Lauren tee instead, under a plum plaid sport coat, blue trousers and triple white Koio Capris. I love the not so snobbish watch content also. Keep it coming.

What is funny is that, when you're pationnate about something, you should strive to make people understand why you love it, why it is important to you and maybe to them, and broaden or even deepen others about this new piece of knowledge. And if they prefer to stick to a casual approach, noob opinion or simply are too blinded by the vast world you try to open the lid for them, just be patient and respect their stance. It may change in due time, or not and that's fine too. But at the very least, they'll see you as the "geek of this/that".

I appreciate your perspective on watches and attire. While I do have a fondness for watches, I've been grappling with a dilemma. I'm hesitant about wearing an expensive watch on my wrist daily, given the risk of exposure to potential damage. It feels a bit ostentatious to showcase a luxurious watch constantly. After careful consideration, I've decided to part ways with my two watches and invest in an antique refurbished pocket watch instead. I find the idea of a chain hanging intriguing, and the classic, stylish nature of a pocket watch appeals to me greatly. With it safely tucked in my pocket, my watch will remain secure and protected. Plus, I can purchase an amazing pocket watch in excellent condition for less than $1,000.

Very cool about the pocket watch. To your original concern, wearing a watch is a lot like style in that you've got to be comfortable and confident. If you're not that will show so good for you for recognizing that and doing what works for you.

When it comes to watches, I literally just wear whatever looks good. As long as it tells time, is comfortable and looks good, it checks all the boxes. Yes, there are some super shitty watches that have 59 sec minutes, and thus do not meet the “tells time” factor, but for the most part they’re all good. Wear whatever you like as long as it’s not a damn smartwatch with a tux.

I think most people do have fun with watches and it’s just a noisy minority within the community. It’s probably due to most mechanical watches being a relatively expensive purchases, value retention of certain brands/models, and the rise of the watch “investor”/speculator. I think that’ll quiet down a bit with the market settling, but it’ll always be there to some extent since watch enthusiasts are sticklers for details and can talk about the most minute details. I love that Terra cotta suit combination too!
