My father used to use the foil from a cigarette pack on a hook with a weight in the 1920's and 30's to catch big blues in the surf! Thanks for making his stories come to life!

Yeah on party boats for laughs we would hook pieces of bloody fishing rag and catch blues too.. Not the brightest fish.

Hey Skipper. Enjoying the videos over here on the west coast. It would be helpful if you gave a brief overview of the setups you use in your videos. Keep making them I’ll keep watching them.

I went to an Outward Bound school in the very early '70s. Hurricane Island in Maine. We had a spool of line and some hooks. We would cut a strip out of a tin can and just fold it over the shank of the hook. Trolling it over the stern, we caught enough mackeral to feed 14 people very well one day. It was a very crude spoon lure but it worked great.

Brendan....get a roll of the stretchy spyderthread for winding and attaching bait......its super handy and would have attached the mylar very quickly It's self adhering too and gives good tension without knots......it isn't very tooth durable however......I attach whole eulacons with it to my line for sturgeon

Hello Sir, I find the Heyskipper chain to be excellent and I am not paying to say it. The practice of surf-fishing is well highlighted my technique that I like. I learn a lot from watching videos more than from commercial books. Afterwards, I am against plastic. I no longer use pearls or floats I remain very simple on my assemblies. On the video it's only to show that with a packet of crisps you can take fish. If you watch the video carefully, he changes the assembly and removes the end of the bag on the hook.

That's a cool idea. Mybe instead of just throwing out the lure with bait try throwing it out by itself with a egg sinker. Tied to a barrel swivel though main line. And have a long leader tied to your lure. This would be more finesse fishing and would be based on skill alone. No bait and using your rod tip and reel speed. Make the egg sink and quickly reel it in changing the speed. Keep up the great content my bradah🤙
