This build blew me away! Wow such a creative and clean build on the HG platform. I started looking into doing one of these as I'm huge fan of the Rc4wd Tf2, Tf3 line but I see the price has gone up tremendously on those HG now. I may look at doing one eventually thanks for doing wonderful content with awesome information for us scale guys

Very nice. Im actually in the process of waiting for my yota axles. For a super scale 79'-83' toyota pickup. Going with that light sand Tamiya color, that was rather common those years. Well, in my mind anyway, LOL. But thanks for the scale wheel hub mod. Man you are about as infected with RC as myself brother. Good show.

@dennisdempseyradiooutofcontrol5 жыл бұрын
Thanks glad you like my vids, I had to file the outer shock mounts off the Yota axle tubes because they were right where the rear springs would set, I used the existing hg-p407 stock shock mounts on the springs.
@robgti45705 жыл бұрын
Dennis Dempsey Radio out of control Oh right I see now... The kits shock mounts/u-bolts are enough to hold the axle from rotating?
@dennisdempseyradiooutofcontrol5 жыл бұрын
yeah the u bolts and perches clamp the axle tubes very tight, the hg-p407 / bruiser axles are totally round tubes anyway. you can file a small flat spot on the axles when removing the shock mount on the yota axles to help position them if you wanted to.

The 1.9 wheels mimic a 19” wheel. 1.55 wheels are perfect for these trucks that had 15” and 16” wheels on the 4X4’s.

Thanks! on the rear I removed the plastic tower mount and radio/servo box mounted the body direct to the crossmember, on the front I removed the metal tower mount drilled 2 holes on the body lower valance panel under the front bumper and used the threaded holes on the front leaf spring mount that held the plastic lower brush guard brackets and used 2 button head 3mm screws from the front metal mount to attach it.

Hello, what is the differentce between HG P407 and HGP409? It seems the mod you have done (thinner tires) now very closely resembles P409. I would like to purchase the bruiser, but I want thinner tires. Would you recommend the P409 over P407?
@dennisdempseyradiooutofcontrol3 жыл бұрын
The 407 is a true rerelease bruiser clone with all metal chassis and gearbox and axles, the 409 is a plastic chassis and plastic gears and axles resembling the Tamiya hi lift series they released back in the 2000's I personally like the 407 because they are a tough truck
@SonnetGomes3 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Dennis. I actually love the look of the 407 with thinner tires. The mod you did is absolutely beautiful. I hope to get in to RC trucks. The P407 seems like a solid truck to invest in and endless mod options. Thank you taking the time and making such informative and helpful videos. Keep em coming. Cheers.

Dennis Dempsey Radio out of control Cool Dennis thanks yeah I removed mine. Works fine without them and handles rocks better now. So the Yota 2 axles pretty much bolt in and the stock drive shafts with mount to them. First remove the radio box and the front and rear mount then drill 2 holes in the front lower grill panel that line up with the front shackle mount and use the existing rear mount holes to attach the back. you will have to relocate the steering and shifting servos like I did in the video.

Oh I almost forgot. That Tamiya Hg P407 frame is about as scale to the real Toyotas as you can get. Being that I have build a few 1:1 scale trucks, I can say this for sure. Except the Toyota was a boxed frame, but nonetheless, the front mid and rear cross members are super scale. Also, the rear spread out leaf springs as well, because there is a full size spare tire back there, on the 1:1 scale. Now the RC4WD TF2 frame is aluminum, and too narrow spaced in the rear. But the Tamiya frame is perfect, to mount a spare tire under there. Anyhow, thought I'd share that tip with you. You can even build a nice crank and a handle to retract the rear tire up under there. Then use the stow away crank, put through the rear by the license plate, to lift the spare into place.
@dennisdempseyradiooutofcontrol5 жыл бұрын
I agree and I forgot about the spare tire being back there also lol,

@dennisdempseyradiooutofcontrol5 жыл бұрын
on this build I lowered the body by removing the body mounts, radiobox and setting the body directly on the frame. I am going to remove a couple of leafsprings at each wheel to soften the stiff spring problem and give it more wheel travel. is this what you were asking?

Rubber/silicone tube instead of plastic leafspring bushings and chino mod (search on rccrawler forum) give great leaf suspension flex
