The Snappy Lunch is a Mount Airy treasure. Their breakfast is the best in town, hands down, no questions. The hot dogs are good and feature those pink wieners, mustard, homemade chili and coleslaw. The star of the Snappy Lunch is the famous Pork Chop Sandwich. When ordered “All the way,” the grill fried Pork Chop Sandwich comes with mustard, chili, slaw, onion, and tomato. Andy Griffith Show was/is my husband's favorite tv show. He can still watch it over and over again, I just have to find something else to do like watching your channel so he can have the tv remote control :-) Someday, we'll have a road trip to come visit Mt. Airy and other places in NC...Loved Andy Griffith Show!

I was born and raised in Mount Airy and my dad took me there for breakfast and lunch. Charles Dow was really nice to us. The pork chop sandwich is good, but I always get the depression bread burger and hot dogs . The chili is really sweet. While it was mentioned in the Andy Griffith show. Mount Airy really hit the map for tourism at Snappy Lunch after Oprah Winfrey had it on her show. I try to go back there when I visit my Mom. Another great Burger and dogs are ODell's sandwich shop.

Snappy Lunch is one of the coolest places EVER! The pork chops sandwich is pretty good, but like the man said, the biscuits are THE BEST!! We drive through Mount Airy just about every year on our way to the Carolina coast and we ALWAYS stop for breakfast!

As the saying goes "back in the day" in North Carolina many years ago a regular hamburger automatically came with coleslaw (vinegar based Carolina style), chopped onion and mustard. Few people realize this. It's still one of the best hamburgers that you will ever eat!! Also many BBQ sandwiches were served this way too. I try and keep this memory alive and I still serve it to my family this way. If you have never tried or heard of it, it's a great treat to dress up a plain ole hamburger vs the ole lettuce and tomato combo!!

This looks like a place I would love to Visit. God bless Otis. he was always my favorite as a kid and I grew up to be just like him for about 35 years. miracle's do happen thank goodness. You misspoke saying everything was under 5 bucks. look @ the price of the all meat burger then add the bacon for 2 bucks. It well exceeded the 5 buck mark but yea place is wonderful. that town racks in the Money of tourism and as Floyd the Barbour would say *It's a beautiful thing* He said that quote in several episodes

I want to go to Mt Airy NC for the day and visit myself. I live in the state next door. Maybe make it 2 days staying overnight. I've watched all 8 seasons of tags about 200 times probably. I’ve eaten lunch there. Was visiting North Carolina Foam Inc. (NCFI) in Mt. Airy with a NASA Astronaut, Tony Antonelli, as NCFI made critical foam insulation for the Space Shuttle Program. The managers of NCFI took as to Snappy’s for lunch. We were standing on the sidewalk waiting in line to get in and people would slowly walk by staring at Tony in his blue NASA flight suit. One person finally asked if he was an Astronaut and when he said yes, they asked, “what the heck are you doing in Mt. Airy?” We had a great lunch and Tony signed a lot of autographs. It was a real treat for the kids in Snappy’s. Great memory.

Good catch! We visited the jail and got some priceless pictures and a tour of the town in the police car. Even blew the si- ren. Our driver dressed like Andy did and was an excellent ambassador for the city.

I grew up in Indiana,Ohio; with Breaded Pork Tenderloin Sandwich kind of similar to them Pork Chop Sandwiches. With lettuce,tomato,red onion,pickles mayo,mustard,ketchup and cole slaw! Good pork sandwiches hard to find out there due to chickens popularity. I want one of them if ever I'm down that way.

Seth was attending AppSt. Univ. and was working at the Daniel Boone Inn where he trained my son Ethan to do all the jobs at the restaurant. Upon graduating he went back to MtAiry and took over the restaurant. In 2020 we went to Mayberry Days for my birthday. We walked into the SL and there in the window at the grill was Seth...who called my son by name with a big friendly smile... 😊 A Small Town With a Big Heart...
