I hope the money is good. Nice that they offered to pay the wrecker. These are the most interesting loads. You take your time, try not to stress the things that aren't perfect - that's why you make the big bucks :) One way or another you work it out, get it done and deliver. Safe travels Captain

I was the other driver that was in there with the silver Pete 4 axle! I move them on a weekly bases so I'm extremely quick about them! And mine was only 60,000lbs. I set the lift axle down once I get out to the main road. 6 chained it and rolled out!

Pit boards under the train wheels and lower them .that will help take the softness from the rubber tires.

When I was doing truck driving in the military they used to call that first load check and tightening the load settling adjustment as no matter how tight you tie things down when first loaded they will still settle a bit once you get on the road and bounce the load abit, the problem is most people never do it they load up their trailers or trucks tie it down (sort of) think its good and go for it and never check it again. When carrying a load of any kind I (like the Captain) over do it with tie downs and make tight then in the first hour i will stop at 30 min and then at 60 min to check tightness and thrn every sto i make i will recheck them again.In over 40 years of driving i have never lost any part of a load the worst i have happened is some kitchen chairs i had on a trailer once worked loose and when i hit a bump they managed to flip out of trailer but were still held to it bu the tie down, they never touched the road and i saw them straight away in the side mirror . the tie down was still tight as but the bump had allowed something to move which let them flip somehow.

Those round abouts are bigger than some of them around here in Washington State, was concerned about the tires going up and over the inside and outside curbs and stressing the tires, Truck and trailer did fine, Good travels, looking forward to the unload

Just a suggestion, don't put wood under the wheels, put wood under the railway wheels and lower them so you have more contact between the shuttle and the trailer. Also that will allow better angles on the chains.

Great video Mr. Dratchev As a viewer who knows nothing about the shipping rates for this load I find myself wanting to double the rate. It's like a battle between trailer strength vs 87 swinging tons in a tug of war contest. Take care of yourself.

Query: The reason for the chains becoming slack, on both sides, and needing to be re-tightened, is that the chains, themselves, 'stretch', or the onboard vehicle's suspension settles down-ward ?
@HHTV60
@HHTV60 3 жыл бұрын
the major factor is WHEELS. any heavy machine that has wheels likes to rock a little. you need more chains and they have to be properly positioned.

It looks like the person from the company that loaded the unit did not follow their own directions as to the cab being towards the front of trailer! Is that because they wrote the direction for a different type of trailer?

I like 2+2 for the extra allowance. I like 3+1 for practicality and ease of use (when you have to back up). A 2+2 setup would definitely work better with this heavy locomotive.
