I had one of these in my hands yesterday at a gun shop and I think it will be the next acquisition. Recent trips to the range have cost me $35 to $70 for ammunition. Quality 22LR is a lot cheaper to shoot than most other calibers and with a well made gun like this for the money you really can't go wrong. Thanks for the useful info as always. You continue to be the ELVIS of gun channels even in the face of KZbin financial tyranny. Rock on, Dad & John!

Owned mine for about 6 months, have upgraded trigger ($40), and grips (?), and added a Burris Red dot. I’m an older guy (77th year) and shots at about 80 yards plus are a challenge ....sometimes. I do not recall any malfunction. I shoot mostly Federal bulk match.

I think it's really cool that you enjoy such a wide range of guns instead of some people who only shoot polymer guns or others that only shoot wood and steel classics. I like that you enjoy anything with a firing pin.

So, as a lifelong plinker with all the versions of the Ruger Mark series pistols,, I am used to the design of these mags, [the pin you can drag down and just drop ammo in the mag. Brand new out of the box, 1st mag didn't want to feed CCI Stinger. At the top of the mag there's a tight spot the flange at the back of the shells bind up, allowing the bolt to skip across the top of the shell instead of shoveling it up the ramp and into battery. First 10 rounds yielded 5 jams and one stovepipe. Very disenchanting for first thing. Second magazine, no such problem. Ran like a sewing machine. I guess one outta two on magazine quality is something I will ask customer service about.... but the feel of the pistol otherwise is very comfortable and I didn't bleed or cuss when disassembling the pistol. 4.5 outta 5 on first impressions.

My Dad absolutely Loves those little .22 pistols so I surprised him last year with a Mark III in Black, and to me it looks a little funny but hey, he loves it and that's all that matters!! I was lucky as a kid and was able to have him teach me how to shoot and it's extremely rare for him to miss what he's aiming for, I'm getting there too but I just don't have the skills that he has YET. I'm certain I'll get there soon enough though. +Hickok45 You've uploaded another FINE video Sir, I appreciate you making all these because we get to learn about whatever Gun is in the video, and they keep me entertained several times each week. I bought a mark 1V. I looked at this, but the ruger sold me with the one button take down. I had my fair share of fte, or, ftf. It runs great now. Just break in. Friend one year later bought this gun. He didn't get 3 rounds without fte.or ftf. It was painful. He brought out some decent ammo. It may ftf once every other mag, but still brand new. I love shooting it, if it smooths out, I'll buy one. I like it. Not as much as my ruger lol.

That's why I take all these other comments w/a grain of salt when they say 1000's and 1000's of rounds w/o 1 single ftf/fte. It's 22LR for shits sake, everyone knows the cartridges reliability issues, just wish people were more honest, like your comment. I'm looking at getting either the Mark IV or the Victory. I'd leave the Ruger as is but probably Tandemkross the Victory, hard decision.

@PatriotNC1

I bought the SW22, and I'm in agreement with you, there is just lots to like about it. There is only one minor problem, and it's been brought up throughout the firearms community, and that is the take down bolt working a little loose. This will cause the slide to wobble just slightly. Just a little blue Loctite and it's good to go. One person even adapted a lock washer for it, but I had a little doubt about that, because it would take up some thread space on the bolt. I'm sure the designers knew how many threads they wanted in order to secure the barrel/slide assembly to the lower, so I think the Loctite would be the better choice. Perhaps you could weigh in on that one. The magazines dump so smoothly, they're nice! I have big hands, and the grips still feel great to me. The checkering and stippling on the grips are quite good, and comfortable. The fiber optic sights are quite good, and easy to see, even in lower light. Once you clean the preservative out of the weapon, and oil it up, the action is as slick as butter. I really like that. The trigger breaks clean, especially for a production pistol. I'm in agreement with you about ammo. It might be finicky about standard velocity loads. So I think the CCI, or the likes, is the best choice. A great video, thank you sir! - C.J.

I love my Victory. You said it's hard to find a problem with it. I found one for me personally. I have a skin condition on my hands that makes my skin thin. (ya- thin skinned) The little button to reload the magazines is often too sharp and small. I've had to resort to gloves to reload, which is often. My Ruger SR22 was much easier, but not near as accurate or fun. S&W made a great plinker here.
@qcc5
@qcc5 3 жыл бұрын
They make a loader for it. It is just a rectangular piece of plastic, with a hole the shape of the magazine. It slips down over the magazine, but catches on the spring pull. Just push down and load to your hearts content. It was my only complaint also, but this solved that. I love this gun.

I got one a few months back. I love it! It's a great gun. I fashioned a lock washer for the take-down bolt as it does like to work loose. Lock-tite would work too but would also be a bit of a pain. It feels better in my hand than a Ruger MKIII and is much easier to take down. It's a keeper!

I have generally used either CCI Standard Velocity LRN or American Eagle. I have had three light strikes in about 1,500 rounds with that ammo. If that does occur, you cannot clear it by pulling the bolt back as it jams up. You have to take the gun apart to get it out, which fortunately takes about 30 seconds. It isn't a real problem, but .22LR will do that occasionally. I think it is just the nature of the beast.
@oudski

I have one of these. Got it from Kentucky Gun Co. over Memorial Day weekend. Paid less than $300 for it on sale. I had visions of putting a Volquartsen barrel on it and new trigger. When I shot it, it shot lights out! It doesn’t need a new barrel. The trigger suits me fine. So I got red dot optic and some lovely rosewood grips instead. I shoot only match grade lead ammo. I couldn’t more happy with it. I’m a sucker for accurate 22 pistols and have a great 1938 High Standard C that shoots 22 short that I adore. This S&W out shoots them all. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a great, affordable 22 semi pistol. I love this thing and with the rosewood grips, it’s drop dead gorgeous.

Got one yesterday, not balanced as well as the model 41. Heavy barrel in the front with very light back end because of the polymer grips. As far as ejection issues it shot well out of the box until after 100 shots or so it stovepiped 4 shells in a row. Took it apart to clean it and realized it does not come oiled at all. Also took notice to some shiny areas on the slide, as are typical of any gun. But the feeling of the slide is a little scratchy feeling, leading me to believe there is a break-in period or polishing those shiny areas to reduce friction will work as a tool to artificially season the firearm

I was one of the 'lucky' ones that got one of the well known defective ones. Took the gun apart 3 times before I got it running properly. Put all the Tandemkross goodies in it. Now it runs perfectly and I haven't had a problem in probably 1000 rounds now. Purple lock-tite is your friend on the screws in this gun.

This baby is a sweet shooter. I wouldn't have one of the amazingly complex .22lr that are so difficult to clean. If you are considering a Ruger, do check out the video on cleaning and you will see what I mean. This one comes apart in seconds. Love it!

If you love freedom, personal responsibility, free markets and individual rights, please bring your son and teach him these values and raise him to be an American citizen. I would trade TEN brainwashed, self-entitled born-in-America liberal citizens of the world for just ONE foreigner who wants to live his or her life by AMERICAN values (which so many of our own people now reject)

Damn right it is! its cool to see hickok walking around smoking a cigar. But for real ... he is exactly as he his in his videos as when you meet him. No character at all. Just a shooting fan doing what he loves. some of us get lucky enough to get paid to do it. by no fault of his... he's just truly a man with a face for TV with the same love for guns and shooting and life as what I assume is the average red blooded American.

I bought one a few weeks ago and it is a very sweet shooting and accurate pistol... The only thing I did was change the front fiber optic to a red color... I bought the threaded version...Feels good in my hand and the take down is super easy...

Just went to the range with brand spankin' new Victory and love it, BUT more often than not the bolt did not stay open on an empty mag. Ultimately it does not lock open on empty mag at all. I just cleaned and lubed and it will not stay open unless manually locked back. Does the same thing with both mags so I don't think that is the cause. I'll give my dealer/gunsmith a crack at it tomorrow else it goes back to SW for repair. Also shot with my Huntington suppressor with excellent results, BUT had 3 malfunctions when empty casing did not eject and came back onto the new round which had loaded into the chamber (Armscor 36gr HVHP ammo). This all with first 100 rounds. The ejection failure will probably work itself out with more shooting and now that I have cleaned the gun of factory condition (it only happened with suppressor).

You can remove the mag release disconnect, and it's great, but the trigger isn't bad ,but I up grade to a Tandemkross, 4lbs to 2 ,and 3/4 almost 3lbs its awesome now plus hyve gripes much better purchase on it than the stock grips which are small for larger hands.

i recently purchased a s&w victory. fired one shot and that was it. the ejector did not work. took it back to the store were i bought it. stores policy was not to replace it , but send it to the factory to be repaired. this is the first time i experienced a repair rather than replace of a new item which did not work. i was told this is typical gun store policy. took about three weeks before gun was returned to me.

Very nice take down!!! You are correct about the rugers. I did spend some money on mods for my ruger's just so i could clean them easily! if you go to the range and shoot 500 to 1000 rounds practicing with a. 22 the easy take down is a big plus for me! Thank you for your time . always fun to watch!!!
