My first personal Long gun was a Ak-47 with a Choate custom stock set with a 75 round drum. The AK itself i bought at a Rose's department store back in 1998 for 99 bucks on sale. It's like a Carpenters hammer, it can take a pounding and give one back all day. It saved me in Grenada when my AR failed me and i had to toss it and pick up an enemy weapon.

Put a scope on a Wasr -10 and hit 600 yards pretty consistently. I mean you could iron sight it but my vision ain’t the best haha

Everybody talks about the Rock Island armory 1911s some say they’re great guns some say they’re terrible but I broke down bought a 1911 Rock Island Armory 10 mm one of their newer guns they made just recently and I hate that thing I have not been able to cycle one round, through it without it jamming I was so proud to get that 10 mm 1911 I wanted forever finally got one and it’s been the biggest letdown of a gun yet

As a retired soldier, the fact that the AK was the preferred rifle of our most likely enemies was precisely the reason why I had to have one. I was always of the opinion that a soldier should own a close approximation of his issued firearms and those of his enemies in order to ensure familiarity and ease of use. As well as accuracy.

I was young and poor when I bought a mak 90 for I think it was $345ish? long time ago. ARs were around 1200 and up at the time. We used to justify buying the cheaper ak and sks by buying into the hype about the AR being unreliable. The “Mattel gun”. I still have a wasr, and love to shoot it, but the AR is really the better firearm. Reliable and ergonomically superior.

the only "cheap" akm on the market now a days are mainly cast trunnion which is kind of sketchy depending on who u ask. the wasr-10 I have by century is the cheapest I could find a few years ago that had a forged trunnion I paid around 750 like 5 years ago. it has stamped receiver but that's not an issue Imo. its mainly the cast trunnion that i would avoid personally. palmetto state has a decent priced forged akm now but none of the prices are as good as they used to be

i also have a wasr 10 and its a great rifle! i need to change the front sight post cus after i zeroed it its crooked as fuck lol. but the only malfunction ive had was with brass ammo and now i just run some cheap ass steel case corrosive ammo and she is flawless. do you run your scope with the side optic mount? i have a picatinny dust cover but it doesnt hold zero very well even with a red dot. either way the ole wasr is miles better than any cast forged trunnion bullshit on the market now a days.
