12:34 I second this. I was doing a hard lee combo, and it took me like 2 hours of labbing a character I had never played and figuring out his tech, mainly iws. Lee has a mist step, like kazuya. This allows lee to do mist step, and similar to wavu iws cancel, as soon as lee is crouching, you input back then neutral, and you can do an iws move. Combo is as follows. While heat is already active. Ws2,3 ff3(HF Heat dash) d2 4,u3 b2(mist), iws1,2(mist) iws1,2(mist) f2,1 wall, dash df1, f3,3,perfect4(T!) 3+4(hitman) low slump (hitman)uf4 ub3 Very technical combo, and requires lots of timing knowledge. This does 121 damage. I was trying this out for about 2 hours then had to go to work. I cane back and I hit the combo within 5 minutes. Practice, then take a break, then come back and you will dominate combos I promise you.

You missed something. At least something I wished I knew about when starting off Tekken. The absolute fastest forward dash attack you can do is when you press and hold the second forward and press the attack AT THE SAME TIME. Like how you do EWGF by pressing df and 2 simultaneously. What I used to was pressing the attack after pressing the second forward. This made things like Lee's WS2,3 to f,F+3 and Asuka combos way easier once I realized it. Even helped a lot with whiff punishing using a dash attack. I have been Tekken casually for years and learned it from Aris' iWR tutorial xD.

With any combos, what really helped me is what he was saying about not looking at the character, & looking only at the inputs. Initially anyways. Keep doing the combo non stop until it lands properly, working out any timings etc. Some characters you need to really be quick(Jin), whereas some you can input slower. The combo challenges makes it so every input is on one line, which also helps a bit. Still can’t do bf inputs consistently though :(

Hey Phi, love your videos! They're such a great help. Was wondering if you could do a video for intermediate/advanced players covering how to prevent "flowcharting" or falling into patterns? I find that sometimes I fall into a pattern or flow when I'm pushing the aggression on my opponent or I react predictably to his attacks. I'm in Raijin rank and any tips on remaining in the fight and keeping a broken rhythm to make it difficult for my opponent to read me would be greatly appreciated by us all! Trying to keep pushing my rank further but have hit a bit of a plateau. Again, really love your content and helpful insight.

What does this mean when it comes to frame data? From what I know, the fastest way to input a dash is 1 frame for forward, 1 frame neutral (since you let go of forward in order to tap it again), 1 frame forward again to start the dash and then the button, which adds at least 3 frames to the dash attack. From what I tested, if the button is pressed in the same frame of the second forward, the dash doesn't start and you only get f+button instead. Also you cannot fully buffer a dash, I can only buffer the first forward input and the neutral, making it necessary for me to only press the second forward for 1 frame while free to act to start the dash and then press the button, so an attack like raven's ff3 which is i15 would be i16 in a perfect input with buffer. Is this how it works or did I get it wrong in some point?
@PhiDX
@PhiDX 5 ай бұрын
Tekken 8 seems to be different; I recently tested and got the same results you did. I don't have a conclusive answer but I *think* Raven's ff3 done perfectly is i17 as of Tekken 8.

I wonder how you'd approach stance based offense and defense. I play Yoshimitsu and I am trying to develop my bag of tricks. I shot up the ranks quickly and started plateauing at orange/red ranks when opponents realized they can start jabbing me out of stance changing. What keeps me in the game is up back 1+2 in heat because that does a chunk of damage and it heals too.

i am having a hard time on later part of a similar combo... d/f2 - ff2,3 - d/b1,4 - ff4 - heat burst - ff4 - f1+2 and an even tougher one if u add a ff4 after d/f2 my main problem is that after the heat burst the opponent is kinda far... if i deep dash the ff4 barely connects but f1+2 doesn't if i don't deep dash ff4 whiffs... and i keep getting my character to run all the time... (multiple ff4 in one combo are cool but really tough...)

To connect ff+4 after heat burst, you have to do as soon as possible, otherwise opponent falls to close to the ground and it whiffs. If you add ff4 after df2, then f1+2 will miss. You can do ff2, 1, tho. 75 dmg.

One other relevant tip on combos in general is to keep in mind how many hits are in the combo. The longer your combo is, the further the opponent gets pushed back. If for instance you add a single 4 after the F2, it's going to have one extra hit in the combo, which forces stricter adherence to deep dashes due to the combo length pushback. The same is true if you use the 2,1,2 T! instead of the db1,4 T! Just keep that in mind if you're freestyling combos. It's far more consistent and lenient to keep your combos shorter.

Depending on the spacing you either need to: 1. Wait longer after dashing to press 2 (for example, after using B+3 to tornado) 2. Hold F after the dash to briefly enter the running animation, then release and press 2 (for example, after using B+1,2 to tornado)

Asuka really needs to get familiar with deep dash in this game, basically all her optimal combos require it. The ender in the combo's video is also the "easy one", ff,1+2 and ff2,3 are higher damage + NWG buff and wall carry respectively so you want to do those but doing them without a really really deep dash doesn't work
@WeMissDimebag
@WeMissDimebag 11 ай бұрын
