As promised here is the guide to movement in general in Tekken 8! We will talk the basics, why the backdash is so important to begin with(tekken backdashes don't work like other game backdashes...) and some of the more famous movement techniques like Backdash Canceling aka Korean Backdashes, and wavedashing! Give the vid a watch, like if you liked it, and otherwise enjoy!

To be fair these are kinda complex technical techniques that are legacy skills and not really needed to enjoy or play tekken, the arcade quest wouldn’t really cover this cause some instances are character specific, Arcade quest is more universal for every character. I used to struggle with Tekken's movement, as I used to get accidental crouches or jumps by holding down and up just a bit too long, and I couldn't maintain space off a backdash for the life of me, but after really understanding how to do movement in this game, I grew to appreciate it more and more. I know regular backdashes are much more usable here compared to the past games, but I still intend to refine my backdash cancels to make sure I bait and whiff punish incoming attacks.

A big tip for backdash cancelling on keyboard. I'm using one myself and struggled for the longest time to conquer this technique, especially if I'm on the right side. Actually, it appears that on keyboard it's quite easy. You just do a normal backdash once, then after that hold the back key, while alternately pressing down and FORWARD buttons. Yes, you heard me correctly. Back and forward actions cancel out, as in the game thinks you're not pressing anything and your character stays still. Then you release forward, it's a back input again. Then you press down, and it's a down-back. Then release down, it's back again, and press forward, they cancel out again. Rince and repeat. You're welcome :) P.S. I can't get over how Azucena does the Floss. She's such a troll character lmao

A tip for the more advanced mishima players: a change from Tekken 7 is that you can now run out of wavedash and you can wavedash out of run. It is not new to wavedash out of run but you could only do it from a limited distance. This could get you an approaching electric if timed right. With the new change you can no go full screen as a Mishima and always be able to hit no matter where you intercept them. To do this just wavedash then run out of wavedash. You now have access to your wave dash while running moves full screen.

If you play on traditional Japanese lever and balltop like I do. The easiest way to kbdc is to put your thumb on the on the left hand side and your middle finger on the top left hand side of the ball top. Holding it that way will allow you to easily hit back with your thumb and down back with your middle finger.

You have been preparing videos since the day the game was released, and all of them are detailed videos. I've been following you since SF6 came out, and I especially liked your SF6 and MK1 videos. However, Tekken 8 videos are definitely in a very different class. Each of them is a video with a lot of effort put into it and will enlighten players who are new to the Tekken series. Moreover, I know that Tekken is a game that is much more complicated, much deeper than other games and may take years to learn. Of course, it is not possible to implement everything you show in these videos, but just knowing that they exist is actually enough. At least these videos make me be more careful about what people do, even if I can't do it myself. I thank you once again. I also recently watched a video of you reviewing the controllers you use. Furthermore, I bought a Hitbox (leverless) for SF6 and it definitely made things easier. But I think I need to buy an Arcade Stick for Tekken 8. I don't know why, but I feel like the controls of the game would be easier with a stick instead of a leverless controller. Could you have a comment about this? I'm really confused about this...
@rooflemonger9 ай бұрын
well for me leverless is much easier than stick. Stick can be great, but you need a stick that is specifically good for tekken. bat top helps, high spring tension.
