It works great once you understand what you need to do. More important than the whole string getup is having a good bearing surface that allows your tires to pivot.

@combo6340 Hanging strings off the car solves a lot of problems, though. Namely, that without any wheel cribs or anything, I have to raise the car to make adjustments, which requires resetting the strings when I put it back down. I actually started making a clone of the BG setup, but lost momentum, so it's just a box of metal at the moment. I just need to fashion some hooks to finish it up. I've also been pondering some sort of scheme whereby I can measure with the strings to figure out how much of a change I need, and then lift the car, setup a pair of dial indicators on the insides of the wheel that I can see from under the car, and make the relative adjustment. But I haven't figured that out yet.

Having done a string alignments in the past, I’m really thankful for my toe plates. That said, string is really the only way to fix thrust angle at home (for those of us with independent rear suspension)

Could you do a full alignment video using the strings?

Was wondering if you used mm for measuring, now I know. I use metric in my garage at home. Soooo much easier

James Dunn (not sure if that’s spelled correctly) he bought the FDF S14 and wanted to build a corvette with them at that time. There are a few 2-3 videos with him on here
