This is one of the most messed up, yet somehow still well written movies of all time. No matter how many times I see it, I still laugh through it and it still hits the feels at the end.

When Bernie Mac shot his first scene with John Ritter (the mall manager), he froze up. The director pulled him aside and asked what was wrong.. he was star struck. He loved John Ritter and his show *Three's Company* back in the 70s... and he didnt wanna disappoint him. John was a household name back then. Sadly he passed before this movie came out do to an undiagnosed heart condition.

That must have been a double whammy especially for your idol back in the days to see happen . Bernie Mac also passed away not long after this movie as well in 2008 I believe, we all don't last long on this Earth so we have be make the most of and cherish the time we have we those we love here .

As someone who gets seasonal depression on top of general depression around the holidays/winter season, this is easily my favorite Christmas movie. It's hilariously raunchy yet surprisingly wholesome as it goes on. The only other Christmas movie I can appreciate is The Grinch with Jim Carrey
@NiaMakiReacts16 күн бұрын
yeah I didn't expect the wholesome parts in the end, I never thought about how "indifferent" I felt about Christmas though until I kinda related with him for that quick moment in the beginning of the movie. I hope you're taking the time for self care and finding ways to keep your spirits high this holiday season

17:03 "I don't know what you're seeing in him" - Nia, I'm 40 now, almost 41, and during this time, the number of times I've seen both women and men go crazy after people who are messed up is mind boggling. I can't explain it. Maybe there are studies out there that analyzed this kind of phenomenon.

Other Christmas movie classics also have dark themes like It's A Wonderful Life, and A Christmas Carol. What makes them and this movie so moving is that people who are mean to others or have given up hope in life can change their ways when they realize the important things in life... like protecting an innocent child so they have a better life than you might have had. So this is both a hilarious and ultimately moving story of putting love in a character's heart.

It's surprisingly charming but more a psychology study. One of those stories that's masked as a genre (toilet humor) but is something else. Obviously this focuses on parental issues and it does a good job with that imo.

This movie is an emotional whiplash. Personally I love the humor; in the 2000's a man with problems like Willy was "hehe funny"; but nowadays we understand just how tragic his mental health, worldview and alcoholism is :( Still this movie is great; and John Ritter (RIP) gave one of the most hilarious nervous comedy performance ever right alongside Bernie Mac (RIP) with his flat & serious expressions 😂🤣 34:48 Wow, you even mentioned it too before I heard. Yeah, mental health is a serious issue we've only began understanding more and more this current century

Many years ago I worked in a couple different malls and while this depiction is not entirely accurate for all the Santa's we hosted I can say that behind the scenes the majority of them were wild party animals and HATED Christmas after about the second day. Not too surprising given they had to deal with a variety of bratty or outright vicious kids, stressed out asinine parents full of themselves, and very crappy working conditions. We also had a joke back then: if you want to get the best weed for the holidays, find a red-eyed Santa because those dudes were always holding quality, lol.

@NiaMakiReacts Manchester United My favourite player Kobbie Mainoo. Do you have team ?. If you like football I recommend The United View and The Football Terrace or KG Da Comedian on KZbin they go live every day the live chat is fun plenty banter. KG is a actor from the TV Series Ted Lasso and Loves Manchester United. I Moderate on the channels. If you have kids that like Football I recommend fan channels on KZbin all big clubs have them all family friendly. And keep up the great work on your channel I'm loving the consistency. If you get time I recommend a War film called The Thin Red Line the cast is huge and a Hsnz Zimmer Score imo it's better than Saving Private Ryan.

You weren't following the good guy in this for sure. Usually the protagonist goes through a dramatic change throughout the movie but that didn't happen here. The story of a broken person with a slight redemption in the end because of the GF who saw something in him he couldn't even see. And of course the kid who was a friend and a really messed up son type figure at times. By most people's standards he was still a bad guy at the end however it is interesting to see the light that shines through even a wreck of a man if you zoom in enough.
