Thank you for taking me down memory lane. Also As a kid, I use to play in this area. I remember the old bridge being closed in the early 1960, we lived on both sides of the bridge, i was born on the Manhattan side and went to the pool when i was very young, then we moved to the Bronx side and i love to Explorer when i was young i would go down by the bridge

I always remember ass kid asking what the tower & bridge were for. My grandmother was in the Bronx. We’d stop on our way to other relatives for Christmas.

And finally, tomorrow, June 9 2015, the bridge will be re-opened for the public! I hope to see footage of what will no doubt be a very happy occasion all around.

The city only broke ground on the project Jan. 11, 2013, expecting to be completed sometime in 2014.

Never on schedule. Reopened in 2015, not 2013. They've got plenty of time and money to needlessly rename roads and bridges though.
