Loved the interview with David Baker (Origin Live), so pleased you gave him that amount of time to explain the various turntables. He was very practical with his answers, so much so that the ordinary consumer will definitely understand what goes into the making of their turntables. Overall another informative video Michael. Keep them coming!

I love the use of theories to describe how kit works. Rather than saying we did it this way just because. Vibrations will travel through any medium. They aren't that great and don't affect the sound. A vintage Thorens sounds just as good as a Rega Naia. Quality of construction is key.
@trackingangle9298 ай бұрын
I doubt you’ve made the comparison. Have you?

Actually, I have. I try and find the clip of a full range speaker attached to a very large 9ft x 4ft x 3" piece of solid wood and the whole piece acts like a loudspeaker. The sound is very good too.

I'm not a fan of the Lambo and Technics thing either. I'm a massive Technics fan of old. Sp10 SL7 SL120 and 1200mk2 user. It's about Japanese quality and it's professional lineage in radio stations and for djs worldwide. Good to hear Money For Nothing in the background....hope Technics isn't going down that road. Love your knowledge Michael ...its very obvious designers are busting to explain their products to you. There are so many options in turntables today and that can only be a good thing. Please use your influence to get pressing plants to use plastic sleeves that don't put micro scratches on brand new records.

All good points, I'd happily settle to see the end of 180g records as too often arrive warped whereas thinner records usually seem OK and sound no worse whatsoever.

With all due respect to the expensive products, with all the technology of today, the 3D print and the AI - the companies still do not manage to produce the same exciting and high-quality hi-fi devices as they were then in the 70s and the 80s - the ones that were so beautiful and colourful for the eyes.
