Pleasantly surprised! Seems like quite a deal for the weekend warrior who wants a helical cutter. Keep up all these reviews Mike - they are much appreciated.

No one is better than you Mike! Looks like a decent low cost planer. Still I love my 735, but if I were to work with a lot of rough sawn woods, I would definitely give something like this a look. Since almost all of these tools are Chinese, I'd have to ask myself how different would this be than the other lunch box planers and then go with the most economical. Thumbs up, brother!
@ProjectsForAllReviewsАй бұрын
Its true Meat, the 735 is made in Taiwan. Getting one from Byrd Tools with the helical installed is an eye watering $1700. Im gunna have to earn more of that sweet KZbin money before I can dip my toe in that pond. Unless of course they'd like to send me one to test...🥹 Thanks for always watching man!!
@themeat5053Ай бұрын
@@ProjectsForAllReviews Listen, which guy do we have to know to get a sweet DeWalt sponsorship with 735 with Byrd installed helical cutters? Tell me, I'll get on it. One, of the many things, I appreciate about you is that you're probably the most unbiased of the tool reviewers I've seen. You could never work in mainstream media.
@SaveTheSunF1R3xАй бұрын
the same manufacturer actually makes all of these. they sell under the Cutech brand and usually come out with their newer tech there before it makes its way down stream.

I've been looking at this for a few months and hoping for an in-depth review. Really well done and as a result, I'm going to order one. I have a Ryobi that is at least 20 yrs old, one of the first planers to come out. It finally died so this new one will be a huge improvement. Thanks for a great and honest review

Same here. My Ryobi is old and still running but the rollers have hardened an it no longer feeds well.

I saw someone talk about this planer a few weeks ago. Glad to see you review it. It looks like a real winner. Unfortunately, I have to get my camper's leaking roof fixed so I'll have to put off getting one for a bit.

Another spectacular review, Mike! Thank you. I would buy this planer in a heartbeat if I didn't already own a new Hercules (identical to deWalt 734) for $300. Maybe I'll buy it in another 2 years? (but then, there will be something better, most likely.)

Cutech is also made in Taiwan and is a brand of Wahuda. I love mine and its comparable to the Dewalt 735. Try to review a Cutech 40800H. Cutech has great customer service too. Also side note if you're in the market for a benchtop jointer the Cutech 8"+ the aluminum fence it comes with can be upgraded to a bigger cast iron fence with extra supports so you don't have the typical benchtop jointer flex on the fence for a little over $100.

Very nice machine, and another excellent review, Mike. Competitively priced with the Rikon. Hopefully more entries into the sub $700 price point will start to bring down the prices on helical head planers.

Looks pretty great. I bought the cutech 13 inch spiral planer not long ago and it's been awesome at under 500 bucks and it has the cutting gauge which is a must imo.

Great video Mike! I do not have a planer or plan to get one anytime soon, but watching Norm Abram on New Yankee Workshop over the years (and now on KZbin) I know how valuable they are when making quality furniture, cabinets, etc. and/or re-claimed lumber. I never heard of this company either but I do know (from the industry I work in) it is becoming more common for 3-rd party suppliers (mainly Chinese companies who make products or parts for other brands) to branch out with their own products. I would guess this is the case here, especially with having sort of a wacky brand name (Find Buy Tool). But seems to be a quality product!

I recently purchased the Harbor Freight Hercules version.

I’m pretty sure the extension tables aren’t supposed to be dead flat with the bed. They’re supposed to be a couple degrees higher which helps prevent snipe.
@ProjectsForAllReviewsАй бұрын
I agree and probably should have been more specific in the vid. Thanks for watching Dylan!
@prof.crastinator3 күн бұрын
Feed at an angle- it reduces snipe by having it referencing longer on the table

Too bad we can’t have tools made here in the USA anymore.
@ProjectsForAllReviewsАй бұрын
I don't disagree Charlie but that topic is out of the scope of this channel. My DeWALT DW735 is made in Taiwan. Byrd Tools manufactures helical head conversions in Leitchfield, KY but the prices (and probably the quality) reflects it. Spend your money were its important to you. Thanks for watching!!

That WEN looks like a great deal for just over $400 but the difference is the cutter. Spiral vs Helical and that’s the main difference in price IMO. We’ll get to that WEN eventually for sure. Thanks for watching Judson!

How is that possible unless you got the 735 used for a fair price or over eight years ago. HD has it now without folding support tables for $599 "on special". @AlbatiQueАй бұрын
The locking mechanism seems a bit annoying. Something you don't have with the vevor planer (with findbytool helical cutter upgrade).
@ProjectsForAllReviewsАй бұрын
It’s not bad really. Planers should have a carriage lock it’s one motion to lock and stays secure. Thanks for watching!
@peterlommelАй бұрын
I didn't quite understand the reason for this carriage lock. Is it to secure the adjusted height, to prevent height change while planing? Is that an issue with other planars who don't have this feature?
@ProjectsForAllReviewsАй бұрын
The whole point is to get the board exactly the same thickness from one end to the other. The carriage is pushing down with some considerable force and even the slightest movement would be bad. Never seen a planer without a lock but i haven’t used them all. Thanks for watching!
