Now this is a real workout video. No stupid music cutting in every fifteen seconds, no staged workouts, no fake weights with fake expressions, no stupid fashion spandex suits, no spray-on sweat. Instead, real workouts with basic compound movements. Why can't more fitness vids be like this?
@georgephillips663 жыл бұрын
I agree mate. A lot of videos on KZbin overcomplicated things. The simple - basic movements are the best movements. Yes, some of the weird shit probably works, but it's a lot simpler than most people try to make it.

Immediately John mentioned that point as friendly advice. This! This right here is why John is the yoda, the shaolin master, the coach to be trusted for all, be it newbie or a pro. I'm hoping you see this here. I've been following your workouts and making good gains. I could really use your help with one thing though and maybe it could be a video idea. I have always had a lot of foot pain when standing, especially in my arch (I do have flat feet) this is affecting my workouts on calf raises. My calves can handle well over for sets of 20 (I can provide the exact numbers I am lifting if needed) but as I am going up in weight, while my calves are fine, my arches are killing me. Do you have any tips for strengthing the feet and arches?

Great video as always.. what would be a good routine to use for a 53 year-old been working out continually for 2 and 1/2 years. I'm heading over to look at your workout routines just wondering if you had any suggestions? I'm really looking to add muscle even at my old age. LOL
@stephendolphyn51263 жыл бұрын
I would recommend doing the Warlock. It is very demanding but great. John built a lot of warmups into the sets so that your joints are ready and you are less likely to be injured. This is really important as we age.
@ryanday97373 жыл бұрын
He sells programs at his website. Email him from their and he'll probably advise which program is best for you based on current fitness level and your goals. It's worth the money if you've never run a professional program, in my opinion. So is getting a coach and/or having a partner that knows what they're doing. Probably, you are not working hard enough...and not varying enough in the workout through the mesocycle. You and I are about same age...my routine for a long time...push, pull, legs, rest. I have two basic workouts for each group. I rotate those exercises out every 8 to 12 weeks. Mostly compound movements....vary between heavy weight and 6 reps and moderate weight 10 to 12 reps. Isolation movements like curls are high rep, high focus/squeeze, lighter weight. I don't do a lot,of,isolation. I've been running a pro program with a friend for about 4 weeks....a lot more variation than I'm used to. It's working well. Focus on injury prevention...warm up, stretching, solid form before heavy weight. Stop or slow down when you feel injury coming on. Beetter to slow progress than get hurt and STOP. Gotta balance that with being intense enough to advance though. In my opinion, intensity from higher volume is generally safer than he y weight. You risk repetitive stress injury if form is bad...but heavy weight plus bad form can cause more serious injury taking longer to heal. Nutrition is 80%, not what you do in the gym. That's no joke....a lot of people spend 90% of time worrying about the workout and 10% or less on diet. That's fine if your diet is locked in....but most people are missing goals because of diet, not their workout. Took me a long time to realize that. Whether you wanna grow but cant...or wanna see your abs but cant...it's Def diet, not workout.
