Beautiful E38, although not the most expensive sold. The E38 Tupac was shot in was being sold for over $1,000,000 a while back. Interestingly enough, they repaired all the bullet holes and whatnot. I almost feel as if it would have sold for much more if the bullet holes were still there.
@sepinac2 жыл бұрын
I have been somewhat following on the story about that car and the seller actually wanted 1.5 m. Some foreigner offered $900k and was turned down. Not sure if that car ever got sold for the asking price. Also, that Tupac documentary was revived a few years ago and how I knew, I owned a black on black 97 740il with 170k miles. Still nice with clean interior but clearcoat was peeling so decided to sell. It was sold for $2k and when the buyer wrote his information for the title transfer, it was for a production company! The buyer told me that it will be used as the hero car for Tupac’s new video. They don’t need a V12 since all they would change was the trunk badge and the wheels. Mine had the M parallels. I could have sold it for more if I only knew :) I’m now thinking of selling my 2001 750il but has 170k miles. It has the rare sport seats, black on black too. If the author is only here in southern Ca, I would have him restore it to the same condition his 740il was in.

A new viewer from the UK here Jamie. This was just amazing to watch from the day you got that call from the lady seller, to the amazing work you put into restoring the car. My heart was pounding during the last minutes of the auction and I'm sure minedoes185 got a dream car. I hate it when you get a competitor at the last minute just when you think you are about to get the car, for example, that neighbor of the selling lady. In 2013 I saw a nice year 2000 E38 740i on sale for £2,900. I immediately called up and told the seller that I was ready to buy it, only to be told that there was a new person who was also interested in the car. So we had to fight it out with bids. I finally got it for £4,200. The car had done about 23K miles at the time and had a check engine light. I fixed it up and I really love it. It's done about 62K miles now.

I bought my 2001 BMW 740il which looked exactly like this one without the sports package for $29k in 2005 from a wholesaler in NJ. It had 50k miles when I purchased it. I drove it for 7 years and added 100k miles. It was by far the best car I ever owned.

really enjoyed watching all 3 videos; great presentation, and very professional work; also like the very clean shop; i was 'gifted' my father's (he's 91) 2002 525i; he was the only driver, and every winter went from toronto to Port Charlotte for the winter until they got older and started to fly; so was driven only 6 months/year in the later years, and never winter driven; it has 115, 300 miles; it sat in storage about a year before i received it; got a complete tune up, new tires, and detailed; you would swear it was a brand new car, drives impeccably, no oil leaks, and i can't get over the fact that its 20 years old; clean title, no accidents; its funny because my mother and father are very light weight, and there is no impression on the front seats, which are not leather; i will keep this for many years, and just wish the fuel prices were not so high

Great to see this car brought back to life, well done. $25,250 for a 7 series BMW with 30,000 miles, in mint condition, is an absolute bargain. Even if it is over 20 years old, because it has done so few miles, and has been restored, it is in effect a new car, with many more years and miles of driving ahead, If the miles are kept low, this car will only increase in value.
