The CURE for insomnia is physical ACTIVITY, NOT DRUGS. THE SUN and activity is the only remedy. Remember, she is a an Allopathic practitioner, not holistic. She herself has a sleep disorder due to lack of activity. Yet, as one ages, the will to exercise could diminish. Thats where the road meets the r u beer and we either force ourselves or take pharmaceuticals. In fact, I had a Vitamin D level of 17 and they didn't even bother to tell me. A new functional medicine doctor mentioned it a year later. I've been challenged on how much coffee I drink when I drink NONE. I've been brought to task for staying in bed when I cannot sleep. If I got up to do things I would NEVER sleep. Of course people break sleep hygiene rules when they haven't worked. Now that I've started keto and supplements for my adrenals (including Vitamin D) I'm beginning to see some improvements in sleep. I am Black. She's right about most black folks have Vitamin D deficiency. I REALLY respect her for saying that people of color (especially the children) NEED VITAMIN D supplementation. Darker skin needs even MORE sunlight then lighter skin to make Vt D since it evolved in high sunlight environments. Great video.

I wish all those protestors would protest the fact doctors aren't telling their black patients to take vitamin D. If you study all the statistics, you will see millions die worldwide of vitamin D deficiency related diseases every year. But doctors are taught to manage those diseases with expensive patented drugs, instead of curing them with what the body needs! So glad you know.

a lot of natural promoting doctors feel that most of the the higher levels of cancers in African Americans is because of lower vitamin D levels.

Darylne... I am white, of Irish descent, and had a severe vitamin D deficiency. Sorry to say, doctors don’t tell any of us about vitamin D deficiency. It is only this last year or two that the mainstream medical establishment in the US is finally starting to come clean about the fact that most human beings of any color are deficient ( and in magnesium and B vites as well). You see, if we all stay healthy, drug companies lose money. And drug companies absolutely hate that a simple non-pharmaceutical can take a huge bite out of their profits. Yes, doctors absolutely need to tell black and brown folks about vitamin D. They need to tell everyone. I have been telling my black husband of 20 years that he is deficient and he would not believe me until he finally went to the doctor and was told he was nearly depleted. He thought he was completely healthy since he’s athletic and in great shape for his age. He doesn’t drink, smoke or engage in any risky behavior. He watches me take my daily 20,000 IUs of vitamin D3 $ K2 And was too arrogant to consider that he was also deficient. He now tells all of his black friends to get checked out.
@BetterMe9814 жыл бұрын
@@sethpawlik ... it’s the same for every single community in every part of the world. Every person who has died of any type of cancer was severely deficient in vitamin D. It’s well documented, yet American cancer societies refuse to make that knowledge front and center. Front and center, though, is their constant request for donations to keep their organizations running. Imagine if every single person corrected their vitamin D deficiencies. Within a single decade or generation, deaths from cancer drastically drop to very few.
@BetterMe9814 жыл бұрын
@@davidroberts3262 ... you’re correct in what you say about the doctors, but what do protesters have to do with it? And which protesters are you referring to? Wouldn’t it be more helpful to suggest that doctors protest for our health rather than keeping pharmaceutical companies in business?

She is a true thinker bringing together so many (seemingly) disparate theories and able to distill the salient points for her audience. Also lovely to see someone so clearly at the top of her field and yet so modest, natural and down to earth. She really should be advising governments and public health organisations as strategy in many areas is poorly informed. This has been one of the most helpful episodes yet. At least for me. I have had horrible sleep issues for many years, body pain, weight gain, depression, and horrid migraine headaches for much of my life. A couple years ago I started having heart rhythm issues as well. I very much felt as if my body was against me and that I was going to age at an accelerated rate. I started with melatonin which gave small results for the sleep portion but enough for me to continue. I knew that low vitamin D was an issue for me from blood tests. So that came next. I take 5000iu daily. My mood elevated slightly and at least the fog was gone. Next was magnesium I started taking it nightly and my sleep and headache pain improved even more. My heart rhythm is starting to even out! There’s light at the end of that tunnel. I do get the burning and prickly feelings in my hands and feet. So next is B vitamins. I will continue with this. This talk is divine in nature. At least for me. It was as if the clouds parted. This is me on so many levels. I believe I will find that balance now. Thank you so very much!

I suffered low energy for more than 5 years and had no idea that I was deficient in Vitamin D. Several tests were conducted and everything showed I was in perfect health, yet I couldn't stop feeling tired with extremely low energy. It was through a "miracle" that a lab tested for my vitamin D and realised it was significantly low. In fact, they were surprised I was even functioning at all. I have never joked with my Vitamin D after that day. I read more about it and realised people with darker skin need to spend more time in the sun for their bodies to metabolise vitamin D. If you live in cold weather or do not get enough sunlight, please get yourself a good Vit D supplement. Please remember, it is important to check with your doctor before taking any medication.
