First of all thanks for taking my request. For anyone interested, the people mentioned are: Nina Simone Billie Holliday Mavis Staples Curtis Mayfield Patti LaBelle John Lennon James Brown B.B. King Joni Mitchell Pete Seeger Marvin Gaye Millie Jackson Bob Dylan Woody Guthrie All these people were part of the Civil Rights Movement crying Power for freedom, justice and equality. The people in the video are all activists in their own right.

Hozier has said that all music is activism. If you liked the meaning of this one, I'd recommend Jackboot Jump. Also highly political. Damn the man indeed.

💚💚power from Ireland! Also, all the people in the videos are activists too in their own fields. Be it LGBTQ to oppression of any sorts. Proud an Irish lad can touch people worldwide. Love the channel man

I believe the people in the video are activists themselves, and I believe they are watching film of themselves protesting and Mavis Staples is not only a performer she is an activist it is a lot deeper than you think

On his website, it details who all of the people are. They are all Irish activists.

His lyrics and everything else included to make a song are incredible. I'm excited to see more of your reactions to his incredible work!

Thank you for being one of the few reactions I've seen to this that actually GETS it. I've seen so many where the people should be straight embarrassed at themselves for not knowing Mavis or ANY of the artists mentioned, let alone understanding the lyrics. Makes my soul hurt. One slight whine... Andrew says Ho-zeer, not Ho-zhur.

Happy to see your reaction to this! This song is so meaningful and there’s an essay in the comments about the people in the video. Hozier’s lyrics, voice and music are really beautiful. Cherry Wine is another important one but heart-wrenching. There are less important messages by him but just as sweet Movement - Instead of writing a dance song he said he wanted to write a song about dancing and the inspiration one beautiful action can stir in another Almost(Sweet Music) - the title in itself is a self depreciating joke, but it’s about the guilt of starting a new relationship after having lost one, as well as music’s effect on memory and vice versa, half the lyrics are jazz songs that he grew up listening to, the music video makes me sad though because it has Cameron Boyce in it : (
