In September 2015, the new plate would be YY65JKK, and this car would fetch a slight premium over the 15 plate as it could be up to 6 months newer. Volkswagen's transformation of Skoda, from poor also ran to competitive mainstream car maker, must surely be one of the biggest success stories of the motor industry.... Today's Skoda cars now stand comparison with any other brand at a similar price. And one thing you always see in Skoda road tests, is how good they are to drive...... The new Fabia I bought in 2001, had little touches I'd never seen in any car previously, like the little clip on the driver's windscreen pillar, to hold a parking permit, or the little sliding storage drawers under front seats, the little hooks in the boot for carrier bags, the little pockets on the side of the front seats, just big enough to take a mobile phone etc...... I personally feel the build quality of new Skodas now exceeds VW's...... it's almost as if Skoda were trying to prove something 😁😁

At no point in its history did it show a cambelt and water pump change and then the salesman there said that’s it’s only an advisory and because of the age of the car they wouldn’t spend that money. And then went on to say that they give a 12 mth warranty and denied that if the belt went on my drive home to wales the warranty would cover it . What a shambles of a garage no motor warranty would cover that if it’s never been done , keep up your sterling work

I don't understand why people get so excited by older vehicles with such low mileage. Extremely low mileage usually means a lot of cold starts and stop-and-start driving. Because they do such a low annual mileage they usually aren't maintained that well. Usually a well-maintained vehicle with normal mileage where it goes on motorway runs and frequently reaches operating temperatures is in better mechanical condition.

Yeah, but as Matt knows, there are people out there who want v low mileage cars. That's just the the way. In all other respects it's like getting a new car.

Buying genuinel wheel trims, replacing the aerial, and putting on quality tyres you took that golf to a whole new level. I hope you get all the money for it. There's a lot of people who like the poverty spec cars. I'd say there are less basic cars, than GTI spec at car shows. Red paint and lacquer peel...Years ago I had a Toyota Carina! It faded into the lightest pink. There were tons of them one time, and I can't remember the last time I saw one.

I would absolutely buy this car... I just acquired a 2010 Mk 5 Jetta from my mom. Its only done 57000 miles. LOOOVE this car. It has the 2.5 5 cylinder and 5 Speed manual😍

By the way Matt, I said previously that I can tell that we have very different world views but that I still found you intensely likeable and watchable. Well I was thinking about this whilst watching the white jag video - the reason is that I can tell that you share certain values that are very important to me - integrity, consistency, the belief in doing things properly, and most importantly, the belief in treating people fairly. With these ethics so many differences that cause friction between people would become insignificant. Definitely want to by my next car from you.

You've done it right and not cut corners, Its got to be worth £8-9k, The wheel trims were expensive, kinda sad really but it does add to that New Car Feel, it gives you bragging rights to say its first class and surely the new owner will appreciate it. I love older more simpler cars, so tired of the new electronics that's pushes on us these days by car makers, this is a honest car, be proud mate.

Overall i paid 3200€ because i done everything myself. you will 100% sell it, low milage cars are always good for sell even it is older. i sold my 2 days after i put it on sell for 6800€. So GL on selling it.

This lovely man goes around doing up old cars for people to buy. He is doing a service for automotive chronicling . Fair play. In years to come he will be known as the man that kept old dogs alive.

It'll be interesting to hear how much you do get for this one. My view is that some collectors will be disappointed that you've put a lot of new bits on the car as they will be looking for complete originality.
@coops1964 Жыл бұрын
What new bits? He’s just replaced the original bits with original new condition bits surely?
@BrandNew777 Жыл бұрын
Haha really?
@davidperry3531 Жыл бұрын
I disagree. There’s hardly any new bits anyway and just making it look like a new car, particularly with that low mileage, is the way to go. The new tyres and wheel trims are really good and show off the car.
@ronanmc2112 Жыл бұрын
A collector will want this. There is a niche of collecting for bog standard cars. Some display the most basic next to the top of the line of the same model for contrast. Also the bog standard ones are the worst survivors. Most become cheap runarounds or learner cars which gives them quite high attrition while the more desirable specs are cherished. Try finding a diesel or non-GTI mk2 Golf, you can’t, they’re all gone. Also sadly, with estate sales there is always a leech around who begs cars like these off the family when they are grieving. They have no interest i preserving it like you have. People wonder why cars disappear off the road. It’s because they don’t get the treatment that you have given it at this stage of its life. Well done. Best of luck with the sale.

I had an Alfa GTV that sat under a tree for several years. You couldn't even identify the colour such was the growth of moss and thick layers of tree sap. After about an hour of deep cleaning and power washing it came up like new. Far from damaging the paintwork, those layers actually protected it from the elements, particularly the sun which will oxidise paint finish. There was also zero signs of rust which I suspect were kept at bay by the same process of keeping the oxygen away from the paint. Great find and the right guy will pay big money. I'd sell my house for an original Alfasud or Citroën GS. CHEERS!

I'd be really surprised if this sells for 8 or 9 grand. Despite the low milage it is still just a red 3-door 1.4 2008 Golf. It's not worth collecting those and this generation was one of the worst VW has ever built.
@joaomiiguelcosta Жыл бұрын
My parents had this generation Golf Plus. It’s a fantastic car and I loved it. You did great and I’m sure you’ll find someone who’ll happily pay what you ask for. It’s such a quirky little fun car specially in that red colour.

@@chm1701 initially it was offered at 9995. If it really is like new, it’s worth it. Maybe it will sell at 7995. New cars are stupid expensive, and they’re no better than this old new golf.

What I don't understand is that this car passed its 1st MO Twhich you have done with 15-year-old tires, technicians who let these car pass should be schooled over again. Hopefully when they replaced the brakes and pads, they changed the brake fluid as well, as this type of fluid becomes diluted over time with water. Hopefully, this car will find a VW lover who will treasure this vehicle> Great job well done Matt with this one.
