Just picked up my first L322 ( 2006 4.4 ) about a month ago here in the states and so far absolutely love it. I already had an 02' Mini Base which was my daily driver and I bought this thing with intent of it being our weekend away vehicle. But I find now I hardly drive the Mini anymore. So far I've replaced the Amp and Bluetooth module but I knew it was in need of replacing going into it. A couples weeks ago I noticed the solenoid valve for the hvac wasn't functioning properly ( hot air blowing on my side and the rear) So swapped it out for a $30 Amazon part and works like a dream now.

I replaced the timing chains on a 5.0 supercharged V8 one of these at work last summer, putting out about 500BHP, it is quite possibly the most impressively fast car I've driven, for the size and weight of it, it went unbelievably well, it put the Audi S3 I'd driven the week before to shame! All while being as comfortable as if I was on the sofa in my living room. I will remember the reg of that car forever, RR10 ADS.

I had a bmw engined 4.4 V8 Vogue, 2004 53 plate. The way it went from a standstill to 30mph was astounding! not just because of it's size and weight, there's many a sportscar that can't accelerate like that! Range rovers are THE BEST car in the world, THE ONLY car that does absolutely everything you could want to an amazingly high standard. The only downside (there's always a downside 😞) is you do need to maintain them and that can cost a bit more than an average car BUT that's because it's not an average car! I owned mine for just over 2 years, it was 18 years old when I bought it and all I done was service it (religiously) and change one air bag (which was about £175). It was 100% reliable and I towed a caravan with it (also the best towcar ever!) just rememberd, I also replaced a aircon hard pipe which sprung a leak, which was very reasonably priced from a main dealer. If you haven't owned one, you need to!! Just don't fall into the L320 (RR sport) trap, they are not the same car and do not drive anywhere near as well!

The early 2000s is the peak moment in all time car design, even more so than the 60s. I'll die on this hill. We look back on cars like the L322 and the BMW E46 and E39 with fondness now - imagine how this era of automotive design will be looked at in another few decades. They'll be worth an absolute fortune and be drooled over in museums. And I'm with you on Land Rover steering wheels. Something very old school about them - thin and they always feel bigger and slower than other marques, which suits the vehicles. Nobody should be in a rush to do anything in a Land Rover, the footballers and cocaine dealers can keep their SVRs... Gun to my head though, and there's absolutely no logic to this....but I'd have a Defender. And I will. Running my Freelander 2 for another 12 months then going to sell it and buy one. And I know it'll be the biggest most expensive pain in the arse ever.

One feature I loved about my old 2004 and 2006 models was the cup holders conveniently placed in front of the side vents on each side of the dash so they kept your drinks cold, very smart, also the square in front of the gear shifter would again conveniently hold an 8 ounce square bottle of Fiji water perfectly, and under the dash one on each side they had a storage that again would hold that Fiji bottle perfectly nice little touches I wish they had kept. We now have a 2008 White on White Supercharger for the missus and a 2010 Black Autobiography for me and I have to say the lights on the previous models are a lot better as they could light up the local football pitch at night not so with the later models. For me and surprisingly I like the 2008 over the 2010. I like to feel the road through my pants and the Autobiography is just too smooth it's a big armchair with not as much feedback as the 2008, the 2008 also feels nippier even though she has less power so every now and then I take the wife's car out (which is usually empty of petrol) for a spin LOL thanks Nat. The L322 is timeless and in my opinion the last of the true Range Rovers with that Classic look, past 2012 they seem to lose the plot and the new ones have completely lost it as I cant see anyone throwing a bail of hay in the back or going off roading as they went too luxury. Thanks for sharing the video, every time I watch I get home sick Mat as I miss the Snake Pass, the Pennines and the Derbyshire, Cheshire and the English countryside not to mention a good Ol'pint of Boddies. Cheer to all from Romano in Palm Beach Florida ex pat from Cheadle Hulme.

I'm pretty sure every British Automotive KZbinr has had, currently owns, or wants an L322 Range Rover. I do get it, it's got the classy, subtle yet recognisable looks that I think the L405 just doesn't have. That said, I'm not an SUV person so I wouldn't have one (more for the rest of you that way) but the L322 does get a pass for being at the very least a cult-classic. Superb presenting as ever Matt, looking forward to the Part 2 video.
