I watched the video and I don't think Fabi even noticed that he was lost until Nd5 and then two seconds later he resigned.

Well played Hikaru. What a game. Both his wins so far came from "obvious" blunders by his opponents, but his genius is putting his opponents in complicated positions under time pressure, where they are much more likely to make blunders. I love the lack of increment in the first 40 moves and that there is no second time control. It makes the time scrambles much more exciting and consequential.

True. But there’s no shame losing to a dog like Hikaru who is clearly a top 3 player in the world. Top 2 in the world amongst all OTB formats.

The fact that it is employed by Fabi at the highest level is a pretty good ad, i'd say. Plus, he didn't lose because of the opening, but rather due to inaccuracies in middle game

Naka has aggression, deep opening prep and soundness. Caruana is the kind of person he can beat as Caruana seems not on quite the same strength when it comes to playing very sharp games. He played two of the top players in the world in the last two games, one win and the other one was kind of lucky and had to fight fire with fire to survive.

10:12 It wasn't a blunder but gave up, because from that situation there was no hope for Black except defeat. With queen and knight which it's taken later, forced to gives queen.....

so in a way reading the statistics, Caruana had a 1 blunder and 1 miss versus Hikaru 1 mistake.

It's like two bodies of water. Out of Hikarus pond all sorts of nastiness comes jumping out. Caruana is just a wave approaching... And then it retreats. Nothing popped out.

Wow what a game. Can’t wait to forget this game when neither of them ever get close to the chance to challenge the 7th best player in the world for the title of “World Chess Champion,” while being 50-100 points behind Magnus.
