Being a native Oregonian I've spent decades looking at this magnificent mountain. Still seems surreal to see it with so little snow....new normal, I know. Looks like you had a great solo hike. Enjoyed your video.

Thank you! Nice to hear from a fellow Oregonian 😀 It's one of my favorite mountains in the area. I was really surprised to see how bare it was up close. It's still beautiful but I like it better with more snow.

@@HikeCampClimb what about dangerous situation? like wild bear?
@HikeCampClimb3 жыл бұрын
We only have black bears here. They can still be dangerous but not as much as grizzly bears. I have not seen a bear this year. I know they are out there but they are scared of humans and stay away.

Id be soooo thirsty!! I don’t know how you do it with so little water. Another question. Did you use a bear canister? Where or when or how did uou get water? I love your style sir. No talking👍🏼 peaceful serene. Thanks for all ur efforts
@HikeCampClimb3 жыл бұрын
Thank you , I appreciate that! I had a 3 liter water bladder for this trip plus the water I brought for cooking and coffee. I ended up drinking all of it about 2 miles before I I reached my car. I always carry a water purifier with me and there were plenty of streams I could have used for water. The amount of water I take with me always depends on the trail I take. If there are streams and lakes then I take less water and filter the rest. I didn't use a bear canister. I usually put my food up in a tree but there weren't any where I camped. I kept my food outside of the tent for this one. I carried a couple forms of protection with me though so I was prepared.

Great view, cozy tent but not my fav spot.. A bit too open with no trees as windbreakers (rock pile sufficed) and the dust looked like it got in the way... But overall great hike and camp..

Are there plenty of campsites up there? I hiked up to Mcneil point before but didn't take a look at camps. I want to do it overnight with my dog. Any tips or advice?
@HikeCampClimb3 жыл бұрын
There are at least 7 campsites at McNeil Point. You can use the stone hut at the top or you can use one of the five campsites between the stone hut and Ho Rock. There is a campsite behind the stone hut too. There are several campsites on the way up to McNeil Point as well but only if you take the loop clockwise. If you go this time of year I would suggest taking warm clothes and rain gear (it was 33 F in the morning and windy the entire trip). Next time I'm going to camp at Ho Rock itself. There is a shelter built up against the rock with an amazing view! You can see that shelter in my video.
