Thanks for your response James. You and your partner seemed to do pretty well without them, even with heavier backpacks that I carried. In fact few hikers I met used them, but I’m a good deal older than you and as well as taking strain off the legs they saved me from many, but not all, nasty falls. Incidentally, I don’t know whether you’ve done more of the path since your video, but I think the stretch from St Ives to Portcurno is probably the best part of it.

Question. I do endurance races. Could I pull this off in 3 days but also stay I motels along the route?

The terrain is pretty tough (lots of ascents and descents, overgrown paths), but if you’re not carrying too much weight it should be a bit easier. Good luck!
