Hiking Mt Brunswick (very tough hike!)

Hiking and riding motorcycles are two of my favourite activities, and from time-to-time, I have the joy of combining them both into an epic adventure.
This video features my solo hike up Brunswick Mountain in British Columbia, Canada, which is the North Shore's tallest peak. The hike is challenging one, around 15km in length with an elevation gain of 1555m. Definitely not for the faint of heart!
A note on solo hiking: I am an experienced hiker and don’t recommend hiking alone unless you have ample experience, fitness and backcountry knowledge. Always let someone know your plan, itinerary and estimated return of arrival and consider sharing your GPS location if possible. If you’re in bear country, be aware and proactive. An informative book on bear behaviour is “Bear Attacks: Their Causes and Avoidance” by Stephen Herrero

A number of times, while watching Megan doing "the hardest parts" of this climb, I heard myself saying, "Oh No!" People, below, thoughtfully comment: "Be careful" or "Be safe" - Yes, but what a great climb and spectacular video, which would never have happened, of course, if overly concerned with safety (as with motorcycling, arguably). So thanks, much respect, and just keep being Megan!

The sketchy bits reminded me of Glacier Park. While not doing the mountain climbs my neighbors daughter that worked there over the summer said they would climb a mountain in the morning. Sometimes she had to hold in the rock she was hanging on. Yikes! Worst I ever did was with a buddy; we climbed up Silver Cliff on the North Shore of Lake Superior. About 1/3 of the way up I wanted to go back down but it was easier to just keep on climbing to the top. We walked down via the woods. :D Itchy Boots is in Norway now. Between her and some guys in England with some Wales touring I'd love to spend a good 6 months touring the UK and Scandanavia. :^) Canada is closer though. Maybe I could practice in Canada. :^) Well done on the hike. Looked like a 6 snickers bar hike to me......

I will wager that, as beautiful as the view was from the top you that you were struggling to not think about the descending scramble, it's scary enough looking up and having 3 points of contact going up , but down is something else. Then when you hit the flat it such a relief. Brave climb and an amazing place, biking and hiking...you have got it all worked out..nice.

Wow, that is some hike and quite some views! 5,900 vertical feet and 8 miles one way. My body hurts just thinking about that. There were a few moments you looked tired. I hope you where not sore too many days afterwards. I would have been out a week limping around! I have done some heavier hiking in Colorado but never, ever 5900 vertical feet in one day up and down. Quite an accomplishment - Congratulations! Two things I saw that I thought I would share that might help. Your water pack is very loose, if you wear it tighter it will not rub arms/shoulders and chest as much. Maybe the weight didn't bother you but it can be unbalancing. The Trekking Poles are best worn like ski poles, hand through strap and webbing of hand over the top of the strap on the handle. Also check the length by holding out and your arm should be at 90 degrees at the elbow. Sometimes pole are better a bit longer for reach when going downhill. Again, very nice work!

Great video, super cool views. I have done the Deeks lake hike loop near that mountain hike a couple summers ago. Lake was very cold and a few steep sections not as sketchy though. Great workout

Awesome hike, those climb where steep, and yes I felt the relaxing moment when returned safe from the climbing :) Scenic view, and with such weather it creates epic moments in life.
